Check it out! It's only March and I made a Christmas card!
I got to play with some new stamps that I picked up during the after Christmas sales.
The pinecone is from one of Tim Holtz's blueprint sets, and the sentiment is from the set that coordinates with the crazy birds.
I wanted to add a little extra depth/dimension to the pinecone. It's stamped on some brown cardstock, and then I added some Copic shading and also pieced it in layers.
This was a little tricky to piece in terms of depth since the top should be a little further away, and the bottom layers should come out, but there wasn't a definitive layering to the way the image was drawn. You can see from the close up how I achieved it.
We've got Spring Break next week. No major plans, just looking forward to some time to catch up on things (finish my taxes and do that awful trek to and from the attic in which I move the girls up a clothing size).

ReplyDeleteMiriam, LOVE your dimensional pine cone! And love that you thought about which way the dimension should go and replicated that on your card. Good call to stamp on patterned paper too ... the heavy and dark pine cone doesn't need the high contrast of a plain white base.
ReplyDeleteI am right there with you on dreading moving up the kids in their clothing size. It's such a huge project! I do a kid's resale in the Spring and Fall, so there's always that work associated with it too. There are definitely other ways I'd rather spend my time. And it never fails that I overlook a pile of clothes that were put away in the wrong box and are now too small for anyone to wear. Darn it!
So enjoyable, the way you layered this Miriam! Makes for a great look! And you have a Christmas card done! Whooooot!!
