MFT Color Challenge #22

Ready for another Color Challenge from MFT?

I'll admit that this one was indeed challenge for me.

I ended up creating a back drop using the swooshy dies from Blueprints 25.  At the bottom, I trimmed the panel down to match the curve of the swoosh which created a little space for that secondary sentiment.

The colors and the swooshes had a bit of a retro feel, so I pulled out my Television dies and Stay Tuned stamps.  I cut several layers of the frame around the screen to add some dimension to the TV.  I adhered that panel using foam tape for some extra dimension.

Make sure you head over to the blog, you definitely want to see what the other girls created.

MFT Sketch 230

Welcome back for another sketch from My Favorite Things.

Have you noticed that I stay pretty true to the sketches?  Apparently I'm not very out of the box.  One of these days I'm going to do something wild and crazy and you'll all be amazed, however today is not one of those days.  ;)

When I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to use some of the new flower dies I haven't gotten to yet as that small circle element.  Once that was decided, the rest of the card evolved from there.

The sentiment is from Whimsical Wishes.  There are some really sweet sentiments in that set and this one was the perfect accompaniment to the flower.

OK, head on over to the blog to see what the rest of the team created and get the skinny on entering.

Some time to play this weekend

I had a little time to create this weekend.  The girls have some birthday parties coming up and they and their friends seem to get a kick out of my cards, so I thought I would make a couple cards for them.

I recently picked up the Three Amigos set from Mama Elephant, I love all the possibilities with the different sentiments.  I kept things pretty simple, but then the top of the card looked too bare so I added some sequin streamers.  This one is for one of Ellie's best friends.

Then of course I needed a card for one of Carina's friends.  I pulled out the Party Posse set and thought it would be fun to use several of the critters together.

Pretty simple, with a bit of washi, stitching, and sequins to embellish.

That's all for me.  It was nice to do some creating for fun.  Hope you all had a nice weekend!

MFT Sketch 229

Ready for another sketch?  This week I turned the sketch on the side, and pulled out these adorable animals again.  Seriously are they not the cutest thing ever?

The critters were colored with Copics.  I threw in a few clouds from the Build-able Blooms set so the sky wasn't so bare, but other than that stayed pretty true to the sketch.  I'm also loving that rolling hills die with the cute little fence...its like an instant scene.

OK, please head over to the blog and check out what the rest of the team created and get the details on how to enter.

Be-You-Tiful Peonies

It's my turn on the Jane's Doodles blog today.  I pulled out one of my very favorite sets, Pretty Peonies.

The flowers were stamped, with a bit of masking, and then colored with Copics.  To make the flowers pop a bit.  I outlined them with a fairly broad stroke using my palest gray (C1) and then went in just on the edge of the flower and added a very thing line of a darker gray (C2).

For the sentiment, I used the Be-YOU-Tiful die from Ellen Hutson.  It was cut four times.  I stacked/adhered the bottom three layers together first.  The last layer was clear embossed several times to get the look of an epoxy sticker and then adhered to the top of the stack which was then attached to the card.

Aren't those big blooms just gorgeous!  Happily, my real peonies are just getting set to burst, they are my very favorite flower and I look forward to this couple of weeks all year!

My Favorite Things CREATE Magazine Feature

Have you seen the latest issue of CREATE magazine?

What happens when you give several designers the same product and ask them to create something unique?  In this case several MFT designers used the same product to create projects.  I was given the Proof Positive Cover-Up Die, and this is what I came up with:

I used it to create a modified color blocked panel and then added some fun speech bubbles.

I was having so much fun, I decided to create a second card.

For this one I again selectively replaced the positive signs to create a frame in the center.  I stitched along the rows of the inlaid positive signs and folded the up the edges to add some dimension and texture to the card.

A vellum backed frame for the sentiment finished it off.

You definitely want to check out the entire magazine/feature, there are some really fantastic projects to see!
