Artful Delight Friday - the finale

It's a bittersweet day here.  This is my last Artful Delight post as my term is ending.  Fitting that I should share a Thanksgiving card I think.

I loved this black viney paper and I really liked the contrast with that gorgeous shade of blue Bazzill cardstock.  This takes a little time and a steady hand, but is really not that hard to do.  Just follow one of the lines all the way across, and you get a really elegant look.

I popped the cardstock up using Tombow foam tabs, the little ones are perfect for the flowers that are kind of on their own, and then I added a little pennant with one of the Lawn Fawn sentiments.

Here are the rest of my cards for the month:

I want to thank Leanne and Debbie for having me this term.  I thoroughly enjoyed my time.  This was my first experience designing for a kit club and a lot of fun!

Have a great weekend all!

Artful Delight Friday - Thankful for You

Hey everyone!  I'm here to share my Artful Delight card for this week.  Very clean and simple this week.  I decided to focus on this gorgeous print from the Basic Grey Persimmon collection.

I cut a strip of the patterned paper, stamped the sentiment, and centered it over the same portion of the pattern on the main piece.  I wanted to create a definitive shadow/dimension underneath, so I put a piece of navy patterned paper (which is kind of a misnomer because that piece isn't really patterned) directly beneath it before popping it out with foam adhesive.

A thin strip of the navy paper, also adhered with foam adhesive serves as a border and I added a few of the flower sequins from the kit as well.

So glad you could come by today!  Have a wonderful weekend!

Artful Delight Friday - Hello

Hey everyone!  Hope that your week has been treating you well.  Popping in to share my Artful Delight card this week.

This week I chose to focus on the Paper Smooches Gently Seasoned set that is included in the kit.

I stamped the tree on this neutral acorn print from the Echo Park Fall Reflections collection.  I added the leaves/circles in four colors of ink, and then I made the patterned paper 'work' for me.  This is what the sheet of paper looks like.

I thought that the swirls/flourishes on the bottom could double as landscape, so I used some Spectrum Noir markers to color it in.  Love how it turned out!

Some additional patterned papers were used for the mats and I cut a skinny piece of the jute ribbon for some texture.

Thanks so much for coming by, have a wonderful weekend!

Artful Delight Friday - Thinking of You

Happy Friday!

I'm loving the gorgeous fall colors in this month's Artful Delight kit, so rich and deep, it's got me ready for fall despite the unseasonably warm weather we're having in Virginia right now.

I used this month's card sketch today, although I simplified it a bit interpreting the two boxes as a polaroid.

That big flower is fussy cut from one of the Echo Park papers, I love how bold and showy it is.

I wanted the sentiment to be very subtle so I pulled out Lawn Fawn's Milo's Alphas for that, and then added some of the Lawn Fawn sequins for a bit of sparkle.

I was hoping to get some serious card making done for World Card Making Day tomorrow, but this weekend is jam packed, so we'll see how it goes.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great end to your week!

Artful Delight Friday - Twofer

Hey everyone!  Here to share my last two cards using this month's Artful Delight kit.  GIVEAWAY ALERT:  Leanne is celebrating her birthday by giving away one of the new October kits as well as the winner's choice of any older kit.  Make sure to go here to enter!

OK, back to my cards. On this first card I was focusing on embellishments.  I love those cork arrows and hopefully you get that they are all pointed at the bottom of the heart.  The heart is from the MME cut and paste chipboard pack and it is not red, it's a pretty periwinkle color, but I wanted mine to be red, so I used my Cough Syrup Jenni Bowlin paint dabber to give it a little makeover.

My second card focused on this great print, it reminds me of a tin ceiling.  I got my craft knife out and went to town cutting out portions of it.  Those were popped up with foam tape, and I stamped the sentiment on one, inking around the edges for emphasis.

Another wonderful kit to work with.  Here are the rest of the cards I created this month.  Wait til you see the October kits!

I'm going to link up at Simon Says Stamp also since it's Anything Goes week.

Artful Delight Friday - You = Awesome, Me = Grateful

Hey everyone!  Here to share my Artful Delight card for this week.

This week I built my card around that great Maya Road ruler embellishment.  I loved the protractor portion of it and thought it was the perfect focal point for a sunburst/ray element.

This was a little tricky to create.  I placed the ruler element on top of the patterned paper and used an actual ruler and pencil to trace extensions of the lines.  Some careful lining up with my paper trimmer, taking care not to cut all the way through, and it ended up being a pretty easy task to remove the negative portions.

I like a little dimension to my cards, so the rays are mostly adhered, but I didn't fully adhere the ends to get a little lift out of them.

This mathematical Paper Smooches sentiment was perfect.

I wasn't quite sure how it would work out when I started the card, but I'm really happy with how it turned out!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Artful Delight Friday (the thirteenth) - Thanks for Everything

Happy Friday the Thirteenth!

Here to share my Artful Delight card of the week.  This one was so much fun to create.

I used a cutting knife to cut/fold up/create dimension on those hearts and then fussy cut them from the paper.  The grid and woodgrain pieces are actually scraps from last week's card, and I framed them with some of the twine from the kit.

The two bottom hearts are popped out and the top heart was adhered directly to the card base.

Thanks so much for coming by, don't forget you still have some time to participate in our sketch challenges - one winner will receive their choice of September kit!

Artful Delight Friday - You are So Amazing

I was pretty excited to see that we had a whole bunch of Glitz's Dapper Dan in this month's Artful Delight kit.  I just love Dapper Dan - with two girls there's a lot of pink and purple in my life, so this month's kit is a great way to explore some of the rest of the color wheel.

I used the September card sketch for this card:

Remember, that everyone who completes a project using the card or scrapbook sketch is entered into a drawing for a free kit of their choice!  Here's the scrapbook sketch for your perusal:

Anyway, a very CAS card today.  I used the Dapper Dan woodgrain paper for the front, and a great neutral grid pattern from Simple Stories for the base.  That blue woodgrain paper from My Mind's Eye is a larger print and had a really graphic modern feel to it.  On it's side, I think it looks like sky/water.  Some chipboard clouds from the kit, the thick twine, and a sticker sentiment finish it off.

Thanks for coming by, hope that you had a great week!

Artful Delight Friday - Thanks!

I can't believe August is almost over!  Today's card was lots of fun to create.  I really wanted to use that great number paper from The Pier, and I paired it with the blue woodgrain paper.

I cut the circle elements using my Creative Memories Custom Cutting system (it's old school but it works).  The white mat is actually from another of the Pier papers.  I wanted something not quite white white, and not quite off white, since it's from the same collection, the 'white' matches perfectly.

A little bit of May Arts burlap string added some balance to the card.

I'm going to link this up over at Simon Says Stamp for Anything Goes Week too.

I had a great time with this month's kit.  It's amazing when I look back how different and varied my cards are, the Artful Delight kits are so versatile, be sure to check them out....September's kits look FANTASTIC!

Artful Delight Friday - Butterfly Kisses

Hey everyone!  Happy Friday!

This week's Artful Delight card was built around this gorgeous floral print.  I love the soft watercolor feel to the paper and really wanted to showcase it.

The sentiment is from the Jillibean Soup stamp set that comes with the kit.  It's stamped on a very subtle patterned paper from the kit with Hero Arts Wet Cement, which I thought matched that soft gray Bazzill cardstock really well.

That sweet yellow button with the scalloped imprints is from the kit and I added a couple of my Punky Sprouts buttons as complements with May Arts Burlap Twine as an accent.  A few enamel dots added an extra pop of color.

ETA (Edited to Add):  I'm going to link this up with the Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab World.  I think the soft colors and flowers are perfect for that challenge - here's the trigger graphic:

That's all for today!  Hope you are having a great week.  Looking forward to one last weekend of summer before Andrew goes back to work.  Ellie starts after Labor Day, but the teachers go back a week early.  Gotta make the weekend a good one!

Artful Delight Friday - Just for You

Happy Friday!

Here is my Artful Delight card this week.  Very CAS, but I love how this turned out.  At first I wasn't sure that these two papers would work together, but I think the black quatrefoil pattern on the butterfly takes the focus off the houndstooth pattern so that the focus is on the gorgeous color of the paper.

The butterfly stamp doesn't actually have the butterfly body on it - I colored that in with a marker.

This is one of those cards that I stared at for a while, trying to decide if it was too simple, if I should add something else, but ultimately I decided I like the simplicity and bold contrast of the colors/patterns.

Hope that you have a great end to your week.  Picking up Ellie this weekend and Andrew gets home Sunday.  So excited to have the whole family back together again!  Have a wonderful weekend!

Artful Delight Friday - Love You More

For this week's card I wanted to incorporate one of the cute little Fancy Pants bags that were in the kit.

I embossed the sentiment, from the Jillibean Soup stamp set, onto the bag as well as one of the patterned papers.  The 'O's were fussy cut and adhered to the bag.

I cut a very thin strip of that pink paper to use as 'trim' threading it through the little cardstock sentiment tag.

Loving the fun and graphic elements in this kit.

Hope that you have a great end to your week!

Artful Delight Friday - August Sketch Card

Happy Friday!

This is my take on this month's card sketch.

Pretty clean and simple.  I love that blue woodgrain paper and really wanted to highlight it.  For the border strip elements, I layered a strip of chevron paper over the filmstrip washi, so just the edge of it was visible.  Then I used some of the black and white twine I had left from last month's kit (seriously, the kits are packed and I still have a bunch of that twine) threaded through one of the Fancy Pants chipboard stars.

One of the Pebbles chalkboard stickers was the perfect sentiment.

Don't forget that one random participant in our sketch challenges will win their choice of August kit.  Hope you can play along!

Have a great end to your week.  Come back tomorrow, I'm participating in a special hop!

Artful Delight Friday - Hop Card and Recap

Today Artful Delight is hopping with Frosted Designs.  All of the projects for the hop needed to include this quote.  When I first heard about it, I was a little nervous since it's a longer quote and I wasn't quite sure how I was going to incorporate it.  Then I remembered, I have a Silhouette!  Problem solved.  This was such an easy card to put together.

I just cut the quote using the Silhouette and then I added some of the Bazzill Card Shoppe colors from the kit under the larger words to highlight them.  The entire piece was then backed with the carnival tent paper from the kit and popped out using foam tape.

You'll want to head over to the Artful Delight blog to get all the details about the hop and how to get into the draw for prizes.

And in case you missed it, here are the other cards that I created with this month's kit.  I think I say this every month, but they just seem to get better and better.  I love how I was able to create such different cards with just one kit.

Come on back next week to check out the new kit!
