More Oldies but Goodies

As promised, I've got a couple more Oldies but Goodies Christmas cards to share today.  This time I'm mixing and matching products from a bunch of different companies, but I've again stuck with the same basic formula for each of the cards.

I started by stamping my images on Neenah Solar White cardstock and coloring them with Copics.  Then I fussy cut around the top of the images, but left the bottom of the stamped image attached to the panel, kind of like faux partial die cutting.  Once that was done, I was ready to put together cards.

This first card features the Walter image from Purple Onion Designs.  He was colored with Cool Grays, and I used my trusty red combination (R22, R24, R29, and R39).  

I cut an arched frame from a piece of patterned paper using an MFT STAX die for the front of the card, and stamped/embossed some snowflakes on a panel of light blue cardstock using a stamp from Ellen Hutson's Abstract Paint Strokes stamp set.

The sentiment, from Neat & Tangled's Scandinavian Prints Christmas set was embossed on a banner from the Scalloped dies set.

The snowflake piece was adhered directly to my card base as was the little penguin, and the patterned paper frame and sentiment strip were popped up with foam tape.

The second card follows the same formula, but this one features an owl, Flora, also from Purple Onion Designs.  The owl was colored with Warm Grays and I used B32, B34, and B37 for the scarf, and E70, E74, E77, and E79 for the tree stump.

The snowflake were embossed on a piece of grout gray cardstock and instead of using patterned paper, I stamped a panel of kraft cardstock with The Stamp Market's Jumbo Plaid background using white pigment ink.

The sentiment for this one is from Neat & Tangled's Nativity Play set, and I used another of the banners from the Scalloped die set for it.

I still need a few more cards for the season, but I'm getting close to being done.  Still have lots of goodies in that stack of Christmas products that I pulled to work with and am looking forward to getting some more stamping done this weekend!

More Easy Christmas Cards with The Stamp Market and Ellen Hutson

Hi friends, I've got some more really quick and easy Christmas cards to share today.  I wanted to use my Tiny Trees sets from The Stamp Market.  

I've made sets with these trees before by varying the color of each of the trees.  This time, I wanted to leave the trees in black, but needed some color to ground them.

To do that, I used some solid images from a couple of my favorite Ellen Hutson sets.

For this first pair of cards, I used the oval image from the Abstract Paint Strokes set.

I played around with placement and overlapping, using lighter inks so that you can better see the overlap between the solid images.

Once the ovals were stamped, I went back with my Tiny Trees.  I used a MISTI for this, so I could place them all at the same time and stamp them all at once to save time.

The sentiment on the top card is from Simon Says Stamps' Holiday Greetings Mix 1 set, and on the bottom, from Hello Bluebird's Typed Christmas set.  The were both embossed in white and popped up with foam tape.

For this second set of cards, I used the large circle image from Ellen Hutson's Wonky Backdrops set.

These were done in the same manner.  I did rotate the solid stamp for each stamping to give it a more dynamic look.

The sentiments for these two again used Hello Bluebird's Typed Christmas set.

These were so easy to create, and very easy for mass producing!

Quickest Christmas Card Set Ever

Hey everyone!  Were you able to make some cards this weekend for World Cardmaking Day?  I didn't get to create too much - the girls sports schedules are ramping up, but I did find some time to stamp.

We're getting closer and closer to Christmas, and I wanted to make some easy Christmas cards.  I pulled out products from a few of my favorite companies - Altenew (inks), Ellen Hutson, and Simon Says Stamp.

These cards were created in four steps.  First, I stamped the ombre backgrounds using a long paintstroke image from Ellen Hutson's Abstract Paint Strokes stamp set.

To keep things simple, I just pulled out some of my favorite Altenew ink families and inked the paintstroke with each of the colors going from lightest to darkest.  I used a MISTI, and in between each stamping, I shifted my panel 1/2" to the right.  The color families I used were:  Green Meadows, Tropical Forest, Glacier Caves, Cherry Blossom, and Sea Shore.  The single card examples I'm showing feature the Tropical Forest ink family.

Once those panels were stamped, I added a sentiment, from Simon Says Stamp's Holiday Greetings Mix 1 set stamped with Versafine, again using a stamp positioner.

Next I stamped the snowflakes which also come with the Holiday Greetings Mix 1 set.  These again were stamped with Versafine using a stamp positioner.

I loved the graphic look of the all stamped panel, but since these are Christmas cards, I thought a little sparkle was in order, so I added a little gem to the center of each snowflake, but you can definitely skip that step.

The panels were adhered to Grout Gray card bases.

So quick and easy, you could knock out a bunch of these in one sitting, especially if you have multiple stamp positioners, which may or may not be the case at my house...

Ellen Hutson Mondo Peony and Paper Cutting

We're already almost halfway through the current 30 Day Coloring Challenge, and I haven't managed to participate, so I pulled out the Mondo Peony set from Ellen Hutson and got to work.

Normally I like to color my flowers in very bold colors, I think light tones scare me.  I decided to try my hand at some light colors for this one, using R000, R00, and R02.

Once I had my flowers colored, I fussy cut them.  I do have the coordinating dies for this set, but wanted a really crisp clean look without the little halo that comes with coordinating dies.

I paired this first flower with a really gorgeous print from an old Studio Calico paper pad.  The print was trimmed down so it was centered on my panel.  To add a little interest, I used a cutting knife to trim out portions of the pattern.

The patterned paper was adhered to a white panel, and then to my card base.

The flower was popped up with foam tape, and I added a sentiment from my Lovely Lotus set for Neat and Tangled which was also popped up.

For this next card, I used some patterned papers from Pinkfresh Studio which was fussy cut with scissors.

The background paper with the elongated hexagons was cut around the pattern to create a dynamic edge.  I added a strip of another patterned paper from the paper pad at the bottom to ground the panel, and then used foam tape to pop up the fussy cut piece.

The flower was then adhered to the panel, and another sentiment from Lovely Lotus was added.

Essentials by Ellen November Release

Have you guys seen the new release from Ellen Hutson?  It just released today, and in addition to some great new image sets, there are some gifting products.

Today I'm working with the new Bon Bon Box Die, Mini Tags Dies, and Small Sayings set.

The die creates a box that is about 1 3/4" square.  I thought I would pull out some of my older sets to decorate the outside of the box.

This first box features one of the backgrounds from the Wonky Backdrops which was stamped with Altenew Sea Glass ink.  

I finished the box off with a one of the tags and a bit of Lawn Trimmings twine.

For the next box, I used the Abstract Paint Strokes set and Sea Glass, Pink Diamond, and Limestone Altenew ink as well as black Versafine.

I used one of the Mini Tags, coloring it to match the box by simply pressing the Pink Diamond ink pad onto it.  A sentiment from Small Sayings as well as the tiny dots stamp from Abstract Paint strokes finished the tag.  It was attached with some more Lawn Trimmings Twine.

I also wanted to create a couple simple cards.  This first card came together so quickly.

I cut a rectangle from kraft cardstock, 'wrapped' it with some twine, and added one of the Mini Tags stamped with a Small Saying, and then finished the card with a sentiment from the Warm Fuzzies set.

For this next card, I cut a bunch of tags from different colored cardstock scraps, embossed a variety of the Small Sayings on them in gold, and then added gold thread for the trim.

I cut a panel of cream cardstock, and embossed just the edge of the triangle background from the Wonky Backdrops set along one edge in gold.

The tags were then arranged on the panel, some were adhered directly to the panel, and some were popped up with foam tape.

A few gold sequins added some extra sparkle and texture, and then the entire panel was popped up over the card base with foam tape.

Mixing and Matching with The Stamp Market Snowflake Die

I recently picked up this Snowflake Die from The Stamp Market.  I really love the size of it.  It's perfect for a focal point, but also as a backdrop to a focal point, which is how I'm using it on today's cards.

I'm using products from a number of companies for these cards.  Although my projects are often for a particular company, and therefore focused on that company's products, when I'm crafting for myself, I really like being able to mix it up.

I started by die cutting the snowflake from a panel of white cardstock.  This was placed over a subtle gray patterned paper.  

For my focal point, I used one of the penguins from the Sweet Holiday Penguins set by Stacey Yakula for MFT.  He was colored with Copics and then I faux die cut/fussy cut him and popped him up over the snowflake.

The sentiment is from that same stamp set.

I decided I couldn't let that negative panel go to waste, so I backed it with some blue and white patterned paper, adhering the entire piece to my red card base.

For the focal point, I colored and die cut that cute car which comes from an older Ellen Hutson stamp set.  The sentiment is from that set also and was embossed on one of the dies from the Skinny Strips set.

I'm curious, do you like mixing products from different companies, or do you tend to stick to the same company for any particular project?

I've had the Avery Elle Together We Flourish collaboration set from Ellen Hutson for a while now, and finally got around to using one of the sweet images.

There are several different animals images, and this one and the Koala are my favorites, but I just love the little roo peeking out of his Mama's pouch and thought they should get inked up first.

Really simple card. Stamped with Gina K Black Amalgam ink and colored with Copics (E21, E23, E25, E27).

I created a bit of ground with some speckling and then stamped one of the sentiments from the set.

Sometimes it's just fun to just color a super cute image!

Wintry Window Card

We had our first major snowfall this weekend as well as our first snow day, so I had some time to do some crafting.  The weather inspired me to pull out the Ellen Hutson dies I recently ordered.  

This card uses the Alpine Window and Alpine Snowfall dies.

I started by die cutting the house layer from my card base.  This is a window layer in that it cuts a window into a piece.  The tree layers is also a window layer, but for this layer I first die cut a circle that was just slightly larger than the diameter of the tree layer, and then placed the tree layer die within it and die cut.  This created a very thin frame around the top of the opening which allowed me to adhered that layer to the back of the opening created by the house layer.

The next two layers are on the inside of my card.  I cut a panel of dark blue cardstock and created the snowy sky using the Alpine Snowfall die.  Over that, I added the mountain layer from the Alpine Window die set - this die cuts the actual mountain piece out.

When you close the card you get the full scene.

To finish things off, I added a mat of patterned paper and then popped up the top layer of white cardstock.

I thought long and hard about making this a Christmas card, but decided to go with a winter themed card.  I used two sentiments from my Scandinavian Prints Christmas set, one on the outside and one on the inside.
