SSS Raindrops

I had some time to get a little inky over the weekend.  

I've been wanting to create with my Raindrops set again, and it seemed like a good time.

I started with a piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor paper, inking it up with a combination of Black Soot and Faded Jeans.  I also did some smooshing using those same colors as well as some Frosted Juniper Mica Stain.

Once that was done, I added some raindrops using Simon Says Stamp White Pigment ink and the coordinating Raindrops stencils.

Next I added some white splatter using Dylusions White Linen Ink Spray.

At this point, I liked the panel, but wasn't crazy about it.  I let it fully dry, and then added some stamped raindrops using Versamark and Weathered Wood Embossing Glaze.

I had actually created two inked panels, and I decided to cut up the second one for my sentiment piece.

I embossed the the sentiment in white on the panel using the Simon Says Stamp White Pigment ink.  I actually stamped and embossed twice to give it a glossier/more dimensional look.  To make the panel pop a bit more, I added a little more inking with Black Soot and Faded Jeans to darken it up.

This panel was then popped up with foam tape.

STAMPtember Raindrops

Hi all!  Today I'm showing off my Raindrops stamps and stencils.

This is another set of products that allows you to make cards quickly and easily.

This first card is a very simple one layer card.

I started by cutting a panel of white cardstock, then I added a typing paper mask to the center of the panel with removable adhesive just larger than the size of my sentiment.

Once my panel was prepped, I used the Raindrops Layering Stencils to add raindrops to the card using Ocean Waves and Dusk ink from Altenew.  

Once that was done, I simply removed the mask, stamped the sentiment, and that was that.

The same basic concept was used for this next card, except this time I used white pigment ink for the initial layer of raindrops, and then white embossing paste for the second.  This did require me to add paste twice as I needed to repeat the stencil to cover the full card, so there was a bit of time spent waiting for paste to dry.

I waited until the paste was thoroughly dry, and then some, and used my heat gun as well to ensure that the pigment ink was dry because I didn't want the embossing powder from he sentiment to get 'stuck' on the raindrops.

Another one layer card, but the paste and the layers of raindrops add some great dimension.

For the next card I went with pure stamping.

I started by stamping the sentiment, so I had a basis for balancing the stamped raindrops.

The raindrops and accents were then randomly stamped using Altenew Sea Breeze, Tide Blue, and Turquoise ink.  I was trying to get a balance of both color and size in my placement.

Now, I know some folks might not be as confident using the raindrops stamps on their own. I feel like I often over do it with random stamping....it's hard for me to tell when to stop.  So, for this next card, I used the stenciled raindrops as a guide.

I chose a medium tone gray cardstock and inked the raindrops using Gray Denim and Cloudy Night ink (also Altenew).  Then I went back and added some detail and texture to some of those raindrops by stamping the different raindrop images over top of them.  I used a mix of both Gray Denim and Cloudy Night for this.

This adds great texture to your stenciled raindrops and you can keep the ink pretty similar for a more subtle look, or mix things up and go a lot darker or use a different color altogether for a bolder look.

Also note that you really don't have to be perfectly precise in your stamping.  Because the raindrop stencils are already layered, it's a pretty forgiving design.

After I was happy with the stamping, I added some white splatter and then a sentiment from the set.
