SSS, Poinsettia Cover

Today I'm working with my Poinsettia Cover. This is another great cover for mass production because you can mix and match colors, and the pieces are large and very easy to assemble. 

I love using metallics for Christmas cards, so I pulled out a bunch of my metallic Matte cardstocks. I due cut the cover plate from Gold, Silver, and Champagne. For this first card, I used Silver as the base, Gold for the leaves and dots, and Champagne for the petals.

the sentiment, from my Holiday Messages set, was gold embossed on Matte Silver, and die cut. The secondary sentiment, also from Holiday Messages, was gold embossed directly on the Silver base, and then I popped the die cut sentiment up with foam tape.

For the next card, I used the Matte Champagne piece as the base and then inlaid all of the Silver pieces.

I used my Joyful dies for the sentiment. The shadow piece that comes with the Joyful die is much wider, but I wanted a more streamline feel, so I used the coordinating die for the stamp set as the shadow piece and popped the completed sentiment up with foam tape.

I also added a few Cottontail embellishments to complete the card.

The previous two cards were a little more subtle and elegant, but I wanted this next card to be bolder, so I die cut the cover from a piece of Matte Red cardstock.  This time, I used Gold for the base, red for the petals, Champagne for the leaves, and then die cut a few extra Silver dots.

The joy die was cut from Matte Red with a Matte Gold shadow piece, and was then popped up with foam tape.

For my last card, I thought I would do something completely different, and go with a more rustic feel.

The cover was die cut from Kraft, and then I inked up all the die cut pieces using blending brushes.

I tried to keep the inking relatively light, because I wanted to preserve the kraft look. The petals were inked with Watermelon, the leaves with Fairway, and the dots with Honey.

The sentiments, from the Holiday Messages set, were inked with Lisa Horton Solid Gold ink.

SSS And Everything Nice Release, Joy Cover

It's a release day at Simon Says Stamp. The And Everything Nice release is live, and has all sorts of holiday products. Christmas is my favorite holiday to design for and I'm thrilled to have a bunch of new products in this release. Today I'm showing off my new Joy Cover. This is a bold, simple design that works well for mass producing.

First up, I went with a non-traditional pink color scheme. I started by diecutting a piece of Matte Silver cardstock. The webbing piece was used as the frame for my pink pieces. 

I chose three different shades of pink, using the darkest shade at the outer edges and the lightest inside the O. These were inlaid into my silver webbing, 

The sentiment is from my Holiday Messages set which was released last year. 

For this second card, I die cut a piece of Matte Gold, using the webbing piece as the frame for my design. I then cut the inner pieces from six shades of green, and inlaid them into the webbing.

The sentiment is from the Peaceful Trees set and was gold embossed on a strip of black cardstock.

For the final card, I cut a webbing piece from black cardstock, and then inlaid gold and silver pieces left from my previous cards in an alternating pattern.

The sentiment is another from my Holiday Messages set and was embossed in gold on black.

SSS Sugar and Spice Release, Patchwork Stencils

The Sugar and Spice release at Simon Says Stamp is live! I've got a couple new products in this release including the Patchwork stencils I'm showing off today. The set includes two stencils which create the basic Patchwork design along with a third that covers the spaces where the other two stencils overlap.

For these first two cards, I'm using just the two basic stencils.  On the left, I inked them with Sprout  and Rose, while on the right I inked with Pansy and Dusk.

For sentiments, I used my Holiday Messages set on the left, and Thank You Basics on the right.

These next two cards are exactly the same, except that I stepped them up a bit using the third stencil. On the left, I used Golden Hour Lunar Paste, and on the right, I used Cookie Dough Lunar Paste.

These are all quick and easy cards to create and easily mass producible. I'll see you back here tomorrow for some more Patchwork inspiration.

SSS, Same Card, DIfferent Occasions

One of my Instagram friends mentioned last week that some of the Holiday Messages sentiments could double as sympathy sentiments.  I thought I would put that to the test, and ended up creating the same card twice, once for a holiday card, and one a sympathy card.

These were super simple and easy to create.  I started with two white cardstock panels cut to 4" x 5 1/4".  The Octo stencil was turned 45 degrees and I spread a bit of Silver Lunar Paste through the center.

Once the paste was dry, I used some liquid adhesive to adhere a white Winsom Branch die cut.  The adhesive was placed along the stems, but the leaves were not fully adhered.  I really love the dimensions all those little leaves give you.

The sentiments were embossed in gold andd ie cut, and then popped up with foam tape.  To add to the dimensional look, I popped one of the little leaves up on each card so that it lies over top one of the sentiment pieces.

To give the front panel just a bit of differentiation from the card base, I used a Natural White cardstock, and popped the panels up with foam tape.

I love that this sentiment set works for so multiple needs!

SSS, May your Christmas be Merry and Bright

I've got another Christmas card to share today using a some old and new Simon Says Stamp products.

I started by inking up two panels of cardstock.  To save myself some time, I used colored cardstock.  For the green, I used a chartreuse cardstock, inking it with Fairway and Field.  For the blue, I used a light blue cardstock along with Cadette and Marine.  The panels were inked from the outside in to give them a bit of a glow in the center.

I die cut the green piece with my Laurel Leaves Background Plate and adhered this to my inked blue panel.

For the sentiment, I white ambossed the merry sentiment, from my Holiday Messages set, on red cardstock, die cut it, and popped it up with two layers of foam tape.  The secondary sentiments are also from that set but were white embossed on black cardstock and popped up with only one layer of foam tape.

It's so fun to pull out some old favorites, hope you are doing the same with your creating!

SSS, Peace a Savior is Born

I've got a card to share today that mixes a couple items from the new Simon Says Stamp Sweet Wishes release with some older products.  That's one of the things I love about creating Christmas cards, it's so easy to mix and match old and new.

I started by stamping the cat and star images, from Colorado Craft Company's All is Bright set by Anita Jeram, on a piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock, and colored it with Copics.

The sentiment, from the Holiday Messages set, was then stamped with Versa Clair black ink.

I then took stamped the Sparkle Strands background with Versamark on some red cardstock and clear embossed.  Using one of the Nested Domed Arches dies, I die cut an arched opening to create a frame for my image and senetiment.  This was then popped up with foam tape for a bit of dimension.

A pretty simple recipe, but you could create a whole set of cards with it using different images from your stash.
