SSS Curvy Background, Take 3

Today's card, featuring the Curvy Background stamp I've been highlighting this week is colored with Copics.

I started by stamping the background with Ocean ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock.  Because Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated inks are dye inks, they can bleed some with Copic coloring, but in this case it wasn't an issue because I was going for a more blended look.  I wanted to create a topographical monotone, where the areas near the lines would be darker, and the areas with more space between would be lighter .  I used four markers: B00, BG02, BG05, and BG07.

The finished panel reminded me of water, so I pulled out my So Swell stamp set, stamping the sentiment with Ocean ink, die cutting, and adhering it with foam tape.

SSS You Are My Favorite, Wavy Background

Today I'm showing off my new Wavy background.  This background is great for los of different techniques, but today I wanted to color.

For all of my cards today, the background was stamped with Gina K Amalgam ink, colored with Copics, and then stamped again with Versa Clair black to really crisp up the lines.  For my first card, I used B0000, B00, FBG2, and B04.

Going along with the wave theme, I pulled out my So Swell set, stamping the sentiment with Versa Clair black, and popping up the die cut sentiment up with foam tape.

Next up, I couldn't resist coloring a rainbow.  This time I used RV09, R29, YR07, Y18, G05, B06, and FV2.  I also colored the negative space with 100.

I went with a big bright sentiiment, cutting the Sending Good Vibes sentiment yellow cardstock and adding a black shadow piece.

Finally, I thought it would be fun to do some fussy cutting to create a little trio of cards.

I stamped the background once, and then colored three of the sections with three different color families: RV20, RV23, RV25, and RV29; BG11, BG13, BG15, and BG49; and YG00, YG06, YG07, and YG09.  

Once I had completed the stamping with Versa Clair, I fussy cut the three sections.  They were then added to white panels, and sentiments from the Be Bold set were stamped with Versa Clair.

I went with colored cardstock that coordinated with the colored images for the card bases.

SSS Just a Note Blog Hop, So Swell

My cards today feature my second new sentiment set in this release, So Swell.  This set includes three large sentiments and three smaller coordinating sentiments.  There are also coordinating dies.

When I created this set, I had the Waves of Change stencil and stamp set that I designed a couple years ago in the back of my head.  This first card features the stencil

I started by creating three stenciled panels by first inking the waves with Cadette and Marine ink, leaving the stencil in place, and then spreading paste over the inked areas.  Once the three panels were dry, I fussy cut them into creating three layers.  

The first was adhered directly to my white panel, the second adhered with foam tape over the first, and the third adhered with foam tape over the second. 

The sentiment was then stamped using Versafine Clair black ink.

These next two cards feature my Waves of Change stamp set.  I created a basic and stepped up version.

I rarely make true one layer cards, but these products made it so easy!  I first stamped the main 'solid' image using Seafoam directly onto my card base.  I then placed the accent layer, and stamped that twice using Seafoam to get a darker shade.

The sentiment was then stamped with Versafine Clair.

So simple and easy, but love the impact!

For the stepped up version of the card, I stamped the first two layers as I had done previously, and then I added the detailed line image with Surf ink.

To add a bit more depth to the stamped images, I added some details and additional color using my BG10 and BG13 Copics.

The wave was then fussy cut and trimmed down to match the width of my panel.

I added a bit of shading using Seafoam to the top of the card as well as just behind where the top of the wave was going to sit.

The sentiment was stamped, again with black Versafine Clair, and then the wave piece was popped up with foam adhesive.

This final card features another great Simon stencil, Waves.

The stencil was placed over my panel, inked with Morning and Twilight inks, trimmed down and adhered to my panel.

I then stamped the sentiment with Versafine Clair, and die cut it using the coordinating dies.

I also white embossed one of the secondary sentiments on a strip of black cardstok.

Both sentiments were adhered with foam tape.
