World Cardmaking Day Fun - Market Street Stamps Block Party and Ellen Hutson Trend Challenge

Yesterday was World Cardmaking Day, and although I really didn't get a chance to create until the girls went to bed (Andrew had a meet all day and we had all sorts of stuff to do - gym, birthday party, etc.), I actually managed to get a lot done.

I'll be sharing all my creations in the next week or so, but I gotta get this one posted tonight.

I'm using Brenda Weaver's Hit The Mark set (although the 'you' is from another set). 

I wanted to get an ombre effect with the arrows/triangles, there are actually four different Spectrum Noir markers used for the triangles, but it is a lot more subtle than I planned, and really doesn't show well in the photograph at all.



I'm also going to link this up with one of Ellen Hutson's WCMD challenges - using a trendy shape.

Market Street Stamps Sept Block Party

Got to be a little crafty tonight. :)

This is my first of two posts, so they're both going to be a bit short so I can go to bed.

I was lucky enough to win one of Brenda Weaver's new MSS sets, Hit the Mark, last month. It's such a versatile set that is great for cards as well as scrapbooking. I was also so excited to see how BIG the stamps are.

Anyway, I pulled together this simple card. I really love the triangle/arrow border stamp which I stamped in second generation.



The log/target/leaves/arrow were all pieced. I just love these images, they make a great impact.

Cruisin with Market Street Stamps Camper Digi

I just realized I have been a BAD blogger this week. It's been busy, and I actually have several projects going on simultaneously, but I did want to share this card with you today. This is the card I wanted to create last month for the Market Street Stamps block party, but my printer was on the fritz.

I'm using CTMH's Cruisin papers, which are retiring this month, so if you want them, better hurry and get them. I used some more of my retired CM metallic paper for the base, and then pieced the patterned papers on top.

The curtains are some red piped grosgrain from Michael's, and I used a little scrap of old Bliss paper for the inside of the camper.



Some sponged clouds and sanded Topiary cardstock for grass complete the look.

One more thing, I wanted to let you know that I'll be participating in a special blog hop on Monday with some of my fellow Gallery Idol ladies. Market Street Stamps Paint the Town Challenge

I really love the color palatte for this month's Market Street Stamps challenge, so I pulled this card together to play along.

I used one of the retired Mayberry papers for that yellow dot base and sponged the edges with chocolate ink. The green is a piece of topiary cardstock that is lightly sanded. Then I scored every 3/8" and lightly sanded the scored lines. I also sponged the edges of that piece.

Wooden chipboard pieces are so in right now, but they can be hard to find in the major stores and pricey too. This is my cheap version. The shape is cut using the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. Then I sprayed some Dark Calico Mister Huey's onto a scrap surface, dipped a sponge in it, and quickly swiped it over the frame, repeating until I got the coverage I wanted.



The sentiment is one of my favorite from MSS's 'Faith in You' set, and it totally speaks to me since I'm always biting off more than I can chew, or at least chew comfortably.

The ribbon is from Michael's, and I used a CTMH Kraft button along with some May Arts twine as well as some Opaque Adhesives to finish the card off.

This is a consolation card. I was SO excited about the free digi that is over at Market Street Stamps this week (it's a really cute little camper image). I had all my papers picked out (CTMH Cruisin collection), and then....technology issues. Can't get my printer to work. SO disappointed!

I had to console myself with this little card. It's a 4x4 card, and uses the Faith in You stamp set.

The frame and circle piece were cut using the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge and I colored it with Gingersnap Smooch Spritz.

The vase was stamped on a retired CTMH paper and then cut out. I also added some shading using my blending pen.

The flowers are from a May Arts flower trim. I cut them out and then used Plumb Thumb Mister Hueys and the Gingernsap Smooch Spritz to add color. I used a large 3L Dodz adhesive dot to adhere the flowers. First I attached them to the dot, creating a cluster, and then attached the whole thing to the center piece.



Pretty simple card. No sentiment on this one, just lots of color.

Market Street Stamps Paint theTown Challenge

After all the layouts I've done lately, I'm kind of in a card mood these days (although I still have a few scrapbooking projects that I'm finishing up). I really liked the color story for Market Street Stamps' current Paint the Town Challenge, so I thought I would play along.

This card uses the Faith in You set. I stamped the flowers from that set multiple times on two strips of Gray Flannel cardstock using a mask in order to overlap the stamped images. By just showing a portion of the repeated image on both of the strips, I think you get an art deco feel that I really like. (Hint: for complicated images like this, where it takes a while to cut out the image, I save my masks for future use.)

The rest of the card is pretty simple, layering different strips/thicknesses of the cardstock colors to get the end result.

The sentiment piece is lightly sponged on the edges for a bit of definition and also popped up with some dimensional foam tape.

Card for Market Street Stamps Block Party

Just getting this card in under the wire. This card uses Market Street's Faith in You stamp set.

I used CTMH's new Stella paper pack for the pitcher and flowers. The fussy cutting on the flowers took FOR-EVER, but I think it was worth it. I stamped the flowers on three of the patterned papers and then cut out them out and layered them. It was a bit tricky and what I ended up doing was cutting the entire group of three out from one pattern, a set of two from another pattern, and then the single blue flower from the third pattern, so they are layered on top of one another which also adds a bit of dimension.

I added a little shading to the pitcher as well as the sentiment using my blending pen and cocoa ink.

To create the halo around the pitcher and flowers, I stamped the pitcher onto the white cardstock, and then used my finger daubers to slowly add ink. I used mostly Creme Brulee, but added just a hint of Chocolate at the end to add a little more depth. Here's what it looked like before I adhered the pieced elements:



I also swiped Cocoa ink around the edges of the Cocoa cardstock oval to really crisp up and define the edges and add some additional depth.

Card for Market Street Paint the Town Color and Skipping Stones Design Challenges

We had a crazy busy weekend that involved a lot of running around, and not a whole lot of sleep. Add to that the fact that Ellie's been a bit of a pill lately. I'm pretty sure she's going through a growth spurt, which tends to just make her ornery and not that much fun to be around if you aren't doing things her way. Anyway, imagine my delight to find that the federal government had a delayed start this morning. I really needed a little quiet crafty time at home, so I dropped the girls off a little late, and headed home to work on some cards.

Here is the first one. The stamps are from the Faith in You set from Market Street Stamps which I was lucky enough to win last month. It's a great little set with some very sweet sentiments.

This was a bit of a technique card for me, i.e., I got to try some new things:

1) To create the top portion of the card, I cut a piece of white cardstock 2" wide, and then the patterned papers and Vineyard Berry cardstock at 2 1/2". Then I cut those 2 1/2" strips into smaller strips at random widths. I adhered those to the 2" piece and then trimmed the whole thing to 2". It's a little easier to do it this way since you don't have to worry about lining up the top and bottom edges of the little strips you are adding....just need to get that one edge butted up to the piece next to it.

2) Basketweave paper ribbon. I wanted to try Teri Anderson's basketweave technique seen here , which involves running your cardstock through a paper crimper twice. You run it through once, turn 90 degrees and send it through again. I sponged a little bit of ink over the entire piece to give it some more depth. I created a little bow as well, and used my brand spanking new Tiny Attacher (I think we are going to become good friends) to secure the bow.

For the bottom of the card, I accented the edges by swiping my stamp pad directly on the paper. The sentiment came out a bit faint for my liking, so it's double stamped.
