SSS Nifty Star Plate, No Waste Cards

Today I'm sharing a trio of cards featuring the new Nifty Star Plate. This is just such a fun plate, it's got a bit of a md, retro feel. 

For my cards I die cut the plate three times from white, light blue, and dark blue.  By mixing and matching the pieces, I very quickly created three backgrounds using all the pieces, no waste at all!

Then it was just a matter of adding a few die cut sentiments.  I used an older happy birthday die for the navy background,

Yay You for the light blue background, 

and Cheering You On for the white background.

Super easy.  I love the versatility of this background.  I'm thinking this one would be perfect for some Christmas card backgrounds!

SSS, Circle Sentiment Dies

I can't believe that it's already New Year's Eve!  This year has flown by!  I've got a couple cards to share today using my Circle Sentiments dies.  These are standalone dies that also coordinate perfectly with my Circle Sentiments stamp set.

Boggle was a game I loved growing up.  There are a bunch of dice with letters on then.  You shake them up, and end up with a set of nine letters you use create as many words as you can think of.  Playing with this set kind of reminds me of playing Boggle.

For the first card, I went with a more masculine color scheme.  The circle alphas were adhered directly to a white panel, and I added a secondary sentiment from my Cheering You On set.

I added a couple of patterned paper mats to complete the look.

The second card was pretty simple as well.  The circle pieces were cut from pink and red cardstock.  I also die cut them from my a white panel so that I could inlay the pink and red pieces.

I finished things off with one of the sentiments from the Circle Sentiments stamp set.

SSS Cheering For You Release

It's time for another release from Simon Says Stamp!  I'm sharing a card featuring my newest sentiment die/coordinating stamp set, Cheering You On, paired with the new Bubble Rings embossing folder.

I started by embossing a panel of watercolor cardstock.  This was colored with Tim Holtz watercolor pencils.  I channeled my elementary school art class using three primary colors for the main circles:  Tumbled Glass, Fossilized Amber, and Kitsch Flamingo.  Note that I only have two sets of watercolor pencils, so am using the closest colors that I have.  After coloring those areas, I used a wet brush to smooth out and the color.

Where the circles overlapped, I used a coordinating color - Spiced Marmelade for where pink and yellow overlapped, Twisted Citron for yellow and blue, and Shaded Lilac for blue and pink.  Again I used a wet brush to smooth out the color.

The panel was set aside to dry, while I did a bit of die cutting.  The shadow piece was cut from black cardstock and the sentiment itself from white.  The sentiment doesn't cut as a single piece, but is quite easy to assemble.  I used a secondary sentiment from the coordinating stamp set embossed on a black strip to complete the thought.  Both the sentiment pieces were popped up with foam tape and I also added a black mat to the card.
