Neat & Tangled January Release Week Day 1 - Giveaway

Happy New Year!  We are not wasting any time at Neat & Tangled this year, we're ready to get down to business with our January release!  In case you didn't hear, this year we're going to monthly releases, so they'll be a little smaller, but more frequent.  This month I have a stamp set and coordinating die being released, you'll see that later in the week.  Today we're showing off an ADORABLE Nuts for You squirrel set from Elena Roussakis.

I love this image with the two hugging squirrels in the big acorn.  It was stamped with Memento and colored with Copics.  There are coordinating dies, but I opted for fussy cutting.  When an image doesn't have a lot of nooks and crannies and I'm coloring with Copics I'll sometimes fussy cut because it means I don't have to be careful with the coloring in terms of staying in the lines.  I feel like when I'm not worried about bleeding I end up with better blending.

One other little coloring trick.  When I colored the leaves they were really bright and vivid, to dull the color a bit, I just colored over all the green with a light tan color.



Anyway, kept this one very clean and simple.  I used a simple grid pattern from a Studio Calico pad, added some splatter and a few sequins, and popped up the acorn and the banner, which is from my Scalloped die set.
