Neat & Tangled February Release - Day 2 - Giveaways
Welcome back for Day 2 of the Neat & Tangled release! I am a big fan of background stamps, especially ones that do double duty. By that I mean that they fill the traditional role of the background stamp - adding interest to the background, but they can also step it up and be the focal point of the card. I think this background does just that.
I've been wanting to create this background for almost a year, but it's one of those designs that I knew was going to take a fair amount of effort, and honestly, I needed to get better at Adobe Illustrator to be able to do it. But, I finally made myself sit down and take care of business last year, and I'm so glad I did. Fun fact, this is roughly based on where I live....my house is located right on the edge.
I think you'll also really like the sentiments. They are great not only for cards, but perfect for scrapbooking too. OK, enough chit chat, let's get to some projects!
My first card shows the background off in a more traditional role. It was embossed in white and then I just added some soft watercoloring. So quick and easy!
The sentiment was embossed on some vellum, I actually added a double layer so that it would stand out a bit better, and then stitched the vellum pieces to the background, adding some sequins for sparkle.
This second card shows the background off more as the focal point of the card.
The background was embossed in gold on cream cardstock, and then a portion of it was fussy cut. This was then popped up over some rustic cream cardstock.
The sentiment was embossed in gold in the corner and I also added a strip of gold card stock as an accent.
I love the shape of that fussy cut piece, it almost remind me of waves in Japanese art. I'm thinking I need to recreate this in blues.
I'll be giving away some of my new products this week to random commenters. All you need to do is leave a comment here. For an extra change, follow me in Instagram (@mprantner) and leave me a comment with your IG name.
Now head over to the Neat & Tangled blog. I got a sneak peek at the DT projects and they are going to blow you away, plus, Danielle is hosting a giveaway over there too.
OK, come back tomorrow for more reveals!

Thank you for putting all the effort into creating this background stamp! I love it and can't wait to get my hands on it!!
ReplyDeleteI really love the first card and the way you watercolored. Beautiful card.
ReplyDeleteI really love the first card and the way you watercolored. Beautiful card.
ReplyDeleteOur love for travel is clearly evident in our home, based on the number of maps my husband has collected (and continues to collect) over the years! As a result, I'm especially thrilled that your topography sparked this ingenious, wonderfully versatile image. This will be a welcome addition to our map collection: I won’t have to sneak pages from my husband's various atlases for journey/travel themed cards any more *grin*
