Happy Monday! It's Day 1 of the Neat & Tangled April release and today we're showing off my newest stamp set for N&T, Have Courage. The set features ginkgo images as and sentiments dealing with courage.
For this first card, I heat embossed the large gingko cluster on some watercolored paper using Hero Arts White Satin Pearl embossing powder and then watercolored the image with my Kuretake Gansai watercolors. I added some very loose and light watercoloring in the background around the leaves as well to soften the background a bit.
The sentiment was then stamped using Versafine Smokey Gray ink, and the entire panel was popped up over my card base.
I love how delicate gingko leaves are and how they can look very translucent in light, so in addition to the standalone images, there are a variety of solid leaves that you can use with the 'naked' branches. For this next card that's exactly what I did. I used both the large and small cluster branches and the solid leaves to frame the border of my panel.
For the initial stamping, I stamped all of the leaves in the same shade of gray. You can definitely see the darker shade where leaves overlap, but in order to add some extra depth in the stamping, I used a slightly darker shade of gray with a rock and roll technique to sharpen some of those overlapping areas. I didn't rock and roll the whole stamp, just a portion in those overlapping areas.
The sentiment was then stamped over top.
In addition to this set, I've got a couple other items in this month's release, and as usual will be giving away my new products. To be entered to win, leave a comment. You can earn extra chances over on my Instagram account (@mprantner). Winners will be announced on Friday.
You also have a chance to win over at the Neat & Tangled blog, plus you've got to see what the rest of the team created, so head over there to take a look and leave a comment there to be entered to win. See you back here tomorrow for Day 2!
