The 25 Days of Christmas Tags

I'm happy to be participating in Tracey McNeely's 25 Days of Christmas Tags event.

Today some of the Neat & Tangled and Little Tangles DT members are sharing tags.

I really enjoy making tags, and once I got started, it was hard to stop!  I ended up with three.

I used the new Classic Tag 1 die for each of these.  For this first one I clear embossed Origami Map on  a tag cut from watercolor paper.  The map was colored with Inktense pencils using a pencil to brush technique (where you just pick up color directly from the pencil using a paintbrush).

The embossing was ironed off, and then the sentiment, using Christmas Journaling and Bible Journaling Companions was stamped using Versafine and clear embossed.  I used Kuretake gold paint to color in the Joy.

Next up a super simple tag design that is perfect for mass producing and easy enough for your kids to help.  I used watercolor paper again, and randomly stamped the circles from Dala Horse in Delicata ink.  The circles were watercolored with Inktense pencils again using the pencil to brush technique.

The sentiment is from Bright Baubles and embossed in gold.

Finally, I had to pull out the Dala Horse Dies.  I created a tag for the N&T release with the Dala Horse stamp set here, but I wanted to show how perfect the dies are for Christmas too.  This was pretty simple.  The tag was die cut from a panel created using the Graduated Stripes Cover Plate.

The Dala Horse was popped up with some foam tape and then the sentiment, from Happy Holidays, was added.

Hope this gives you a few ideas for Christmas.  Be sure to stop by the Neat & Tangled blog, Danielle has a tag up there, and of course stop by Tracey's blog as well.  There are a whole lot of sponsors for this event.  You can leave comments on her 25 Days posts to enter as well as link up a tag.  Good luck!

Friday the 13th!

It's Friday the 13th, so this calls for some 'different' cards I think.

I actually created these two last month during my crafty get together.  My friend Cheiron brought these great Tim Holtz stamps with her.  I've since decided that I need the birds badly and there are some residing with me now.  ;)

Anyway, she also brought some Tim Holtz watercolor paper for me to try too.  These are both colored with a combination of distress inks and distress markers.

Doesn't that bird just crack you up, I can't get over his expression.

And there are so many people deserving of this blah blah blah card.

I hope your Friday is both normal, and not filled with blather.  And on that note, I should just stop typing.  Ha!

MFT Color Challenge 33

We've got a new color challenge for you this week at MFT.

I took the opportunity to use the new Diagonal Quilt Square Cover-Up.

The great thing about using cover ups like this is that if you're going to die cut multiple colors, you can basically make multiple cards, which is what I did here because I need more Christmas cards.

My 'official' card stays pretty true to the traditional quilt aesthetic.  I added a simple greeting from Hand Lettered Holidays.

Then I started playing a bit more with the pieces of the quilt.  These next too cards give a more modern vibe.

On this last card I also popped up the Steel Grey pieces for some added dimension.

In creating all these cards I used the 'webbing' of one of the cuts as a guide when adhering the pieces.

That's it for me today, be sure to head over to the blog to see the rest of the team's projects!

MFT Sketch 254

Hey everyone!  We've got a new sketch for you today from MFT.

I love these cute dogs in the new Top Dog set and was itching to use one on this sketch.

I kept my card very clean and simple, and even a little scaled back from the sketch as I didn't include the star elements.

I love the mix of sentiments in the set too, this is such a cute sentiment for an encouragement card.

Please stop by the blog and check out what the rest of the team created, and hope you'll play along too!

Gift Card in a Box

Can you believe that Christmas is only a month and a half away?

I'm trying to get a jumpstart on things.  We generally give our teachers a gift card along with something little for Christmas.  Since I'm already feeling a little pressured for time I wanted to create a card that is special, but easily reproducible.

Enter the Box die.

Seriously so simple, cut/assemble the die, two sheets of patterned paper, a stamped sentiment (from the Out of the Box set), slip in the gift card and you're done!

In terms of assembling the box die, when I'm putting a critter of some tissue paper of other 'stuffing' in the card I'll adhere the tabs around the back of the card.  This gives the box a little more depth/space inside for the contents.  For a card like this where I'm slipping in something nice and flat, I fold the tabs and adhere them to the inside of the box.  I would use either liquid adhesive (the kind where you press the applicator down to release the blue liquid, my favorite is CTMH Bonding Memories adhesive) or some of that really sticky red line tape.

The box is also the perfect size for slipping in a check or some cash if that's the stage of life your kids have reached.  Mine are not yet there.  They spent a great deal of time researching the Target toy catalogue over the weekend.....

Thanks so much for stopping by, have a great day!

Winners and Just ME Digital Stamps

Happy Monday!  I meant to post winner from my release week giveaways over the weekend, but it just got a bit crazy.

First up I wanted to share this card I made using one of my friend Elena's new digital stamps.  She just opened an etsy store and is selling the cutest images there.  This one is my very favorite.

Super simple card.  I love the size of the bear.  You really don't need much else.  Just a bit of twine and some offset mats.  Be sure to stop by Elena's store, there are some really wonderful images there!

OK, now I know you have been waiting patiently to hear about the winners.  According to random.org.......

The winner of the Christmas Journaling set is.....

Julie Tucker-Wolek!

and the winner of the new Classic Tag die is......

Kim Heggins!

Congratulations ladies!  Shoot me your mailing addresses and I'll get these sent right out to you.
