Whale of a Birthday and farewell
Hey everyone!
I'm sharing this card over on the Jane's Doodles blog today. It features the new Under the Sea stamp set.
I started by swiping some Salty Ocean distress ink on the bottom of a watercolor paper panel. I swiped in downward strokes and then misted the paper with water to get the ink to blend/drip. After it was dry, I misted the panel with two colors of Dylusions Ink Spray, masking off the top with some scrap cardstock that I just lay on over the top part of the panel.
The whale and seaweed images were then stamped with MFT Hybrid inks.
Dylusions Ink Sprays will react with water, much like Distress Inks. So I used a waterbrush to apply Mowed Lawn distress ink to the seaweed images. I like how you still get some of the splatter effect and the blue blending in.
For the whale I wanted a little less of the blending, so I activated the Distress Ink and Dylusion spray with my waterbrush and then blotted away the color with a paper towel. I did this a couple times, so I got most of the color out, but still left a hint of it to blend with the Iced Spruce ink that I then colored the whale with.
Sadly this is my last post for Jane's Doodles. Life has been getting busier and busier for me here so I'm cutting back on some of my creative commitments in order to be able to maintain a better balance. I've had a wonderful time working with Jane's stamps this past year. I just love her hand drawn images and I'm so thankful for the opportunity to have been on the team. I've seen some of the fun new images that are coming in the next couple months from Jane, and you definitely want to make sure you are a follower over there to stay up to date on all the goings on. Thanks again to Jane for having me!
