Christmas Spent at Home
I'm continuing to make slow progress on Christmas cards. I was delighted this weekend to discover that my friend JJ owned this stamp set from Waltzingmouse. I've been kicking around whether or not to get it, but I really wanted to try it out first.
I love the mountain scene you can create with it.
This was also my first experience with the MISTI. I wasn't sure if it was something I wanted to invest in. I don't do a ton of mass production, but I have to say I really loved using it. I stamped the mountains multiple times using two different pigment inks. I was able to get a pretty good graduation in color by doing the repeated stamping. I also added a bit of Versamark/embossing at the very top of the mountains. I really love how it looks like they are disappearing into mist at the top.
The trees were also stamped multiple times. I added an extra layer of the same color green to the bottom to give them some depth.
All in all I was really impressed with the MISTI, and I'm definitely putting it on my Christmas list (along with this stamp set too!)

ReplyDeletevery pretty card.. love those mountains
ReplyDeleteSo fun that you got to try before you buy! I love your winter scene. I looks like it would be so cozy to be in one of those houses looking up at the mist in the mountains!
ReplyDeleteI've heard nothing but good things about that MISTI. Too bad it costs so much. I could never justify such a purchase, especially since I don't duplicate cards, either, but I love the way you've made it work for you here! Such a beautiful, graphic scene! And those mountains... LOVE!
ReplyDeletesuch a gorgeous scene! thinkin' I need to get a MISTI, too:)
ReplyDeleteOh I loooove the misty (MISTI) mountains!! Wouldn't you know, I just bought a MISTI a couple days ago. Love how you played with it here. The baker's twine on the bottom is the perfect punch too : )
ReplyDeleteMiriam, this card made me audibly awwww. So awesome. I too love the gradient look you achieved and goodness, this stamp set is cool. I will not look into it and avoid the temptation though! Stinker! :) Agreed, the MISTI is really worth the investment for the inking results you can achieve. ;) This card really rocks. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful winter scene! I've been on the fence too about the MISTI from what I've seen of it and everyone's reviews it's hard not to be tempted!

ReplyDeleteThat's my sentiment, for sure! Gorgeous scene, Miriam! I'm still debating about the Misti--especially since I still use a lot of wood mounted stamps.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Especially love the sentiment and your amazing mountains. I don't think you will regret the Misti. The investment is substantial, but the results of near perfect placement every time are so worth it!
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful!! I love love love that sentiment too!! :) precious!
ReplyDeleteLove!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow!! this looks like a great set to own because you could make a lot o cards at the same time. I broke down and bought a MISTI and am now in love with it. It took me a while because like you, I do not mass produce cards. HOWEVER, I like that if I don't get a crisp image the first time, it is so easy to ink up and fix!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card!! Love the colors and the depth!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful scene, Miriam ... the 'mist' on the mountains above that sweet village is fantastic! Hoping for a MISTI from Santa too! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful and classic!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful card with a true sentiment!! Love this!!
ReplyDeleteYou know I don't do mass productions on cards...but I absolutely love my MISTI for the repeated stamping purpose. ( I think you know that already..). Your card is gorgeous with the embossing! Love the serene scene!
