A Long Time Ago......
I meant to make this over Christmas break in honor of the release of the new Star Wars movie, but didn't manage to get it done until now.
I'm using my A Long Time Ago stamp set from Neat & Tangled. I've done these space scenes before, but this time I wanted to go for more of a galaxy feel as opposed to a the general star field.
I used my trusty Kuretake Gansai watercolors. The great thing about these sky scenes is that since there's a lot of dark and splatter and whatnot, it's very hard to overwork it, you can continue to go back and 'mess' with it more than painting florals or landscapes will allow, and there was a fair amount of messing with this one, but I'm happy with how it turned out.
Oh, and the inside of the card has the 'you were born' sentiment from the set in it.
Have you seen the new Star Wars movie yet? I haven't. We aren't big movie-goers. I prefer to watch movies at home on the big TV with plenty of snacks that I didn't pay $20 for. We did, however, watch Episode 4 (right after the Minions movie) on New Year's Eve with the kids. And Carina got 'Obi Kenobi's' light saber for Christmas, so I think more episodes are in our future.
Hope you're having a great Wednesday!

I loveeeeeeeeeeee this! I won't be seeing the movie ... not a fan! I saw the originals when I was a kid (didn't have a choice, parents drove, you went! LOL!) ... but I haven't seen any of the others! HA!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous galaxy background and that sentiment is perfect for it! I go to the movies only a couple times a year but I really want to see Star Wars on the big screen so I plan on going in February when there should be no more crowds.
ReplyDeleteAmazing!! LOVE your background!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm with you!...I prefer to stay at home watching movies, too! ;) I haven't seen the movie yet, though certainly will when it comes out on DVD (or should I say on U-Verse. lol) My kids have been asking me non stop to see it. ;)
Beautiful background. Love the colors you chose. I love everything about this card! I actually went to watch star wars on opening weekend, and although I also love watching movies at home, it was very fun seeing all the enthusiastic reactions and cheers from the crowd when you watch during opening :) Anyways, you should definitely watch it soon!
ReplyDeleteLove the galaxy effect that you created! You definitely "mess" with it beautifully! I haven't seen it yet. Dr. John and I hope there will be less crowds as the time goes. But of course, my kids had to see it as soon as it came out and they didn't mind the crowds! Those younglings...
ReplyDeletethat background is fabulous.. awesome designing Miriam.. thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeletewe are waiting for the excitement to die down before going to see it. But I think seeing in the movie theater will be the best.
BEAUTIFUL space scene.
ReplyDeleteSpectacular! Have to love those GT paints, but you are so talented :)

ReplyDeleteI did not see the new movie, nor do I really plan to! LOL. Might be a lone wolf on that. I cannot pay those snack prices either though. So we go hungry when we do go, like every two years. I wish I was kidding! :) :)
ReplyDeleteBUT, I always love to see this set of yours used. I think it is fantastic and even more awesome with your B&W galaxy here. Great execution!! :) It seems like such a fantastic set for those man cards. ;) I'm hoping to get my hands on your new cover plate! I know I need to be quick, as I always miss it and then miss it again and again. You make awesome things, MP! :)
This is so amazing...love the fabulous look you created!
ReplyDeleteI can't even remember the last movie I saw at the theater (probably pre-kids! LOL) This is a great card... my husband is a big Star Wars fan- he would love it!
