Happy Pie for Breakfast Day! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
Earlier in the week I was part of a surprise birthday hop celebrated Ellen Hutson's 12th birthday. We were plagued with internet problems all week, so I wasn't able to share those cards here until now, but better late than never, right?
I ended up creating two cards that focused on two sets: Abstract Paint Strokes, and a sentiment from Totally Random Sayings Vol 1. For this first card, I simply used the paint stroke set to create a background. This was just random stamping. I used the Sea Shore Ink Collection from Altenew, and started by stamping with the lightest ink (the ovals), then moving to the next darkest color for each different shape used.
The sentiments were stamped with Versafine, and after that was done, I added the black 'sprinkles.'
For this next card I went a bit more whimsical. I started in the same manner, stamping the background with the Abstract Paint Strokes set, but this time, stamped each of those strokes with the same very light shade of ink - Altenew Limestone.
I stamped the plant and mushrooms (from the Snailed It set) with Silver Stone ink as well as the 'ground' using the longest paint stroke. The snail body was stamped with Pure Graphite ink, and the shell with Ruby Red ink.
I also added a bit of texture by stamping the 'sprinkles' stamp in Versamark and embossing using Frosted Crystals Antiquities embossing powder. It proves a very subtle bit of texture and sparkle.
I felt the card needed a bit of pop, so I used a journaling pen to add some details, and then finished things off with the sentiment.
I'd love to know which is your favorite.
I also wanted to share a few Black Friday sales with you guys. Full disclosure, I am an affiliate for each of these companies.
First up, Neat & Tangled - this is one of the best sales of the year, and there are already a whole bunch of sell outs, so if there's something you really need I wouldn't wait too long.
There's also a great sale happening over at Ellen Hutson. You can save an additional 25% off everything in the clearance and gratitude sections. I love a good sale on top of a sale!
There are some great discounts happening at Spellbinders this weekend too, including some of my favorite Scandinavian themed dies from Lene Lok, and beautiful florals from Stephanie Low and Sharyn Sowell.
There are lots of discounted items available over at Altenew. You can see all the promotions on this page.
Lastly, we're in the final phase of Technique Tuesday's Progressive Sale. Everything in the sale category is now marked down 60%.
Finally, not crafty, but my favorite sock company has their best sale of the year this weekend. Today only, you can buy one sock and get a mystery pair for free - I purchased some for Christmas gifts last year and was really happy with my mystery socks - which ended up being more Christmas gifts lol. I also have a 20% off code to share if you're new to the company. Just use this link and you can get an even better deal!
