I got together with some crafty friends a couple months ago, and during that time I made sure to stamp a bunch of the penguins from Mama Elephant's Cool Penguins set. These images are so cute! Of course, life takes over, and I haven't gotten a chance to put these cuties to use until now.
For this first card, I wanted to use some patterned papers. I feel like I'm always buying paper, but often don't use it on my cards. The plaid here is from Crate's Snow & Cocoa pad, and I honestly can't remember where the others are from - cardmaker fail!
I added of bit of Lawn Trimmings twine for some extra texture and to soften it, and the sentiment comes from Neat & Tangled's Christmas Pageant set.
I was looking though my papers for something to pair with the cute penguin popping out of the box, and then I remembered I had some old Jasmine Jones journaling cards from a December Daily kit she did for Ali Edwards several years ago.
I really like using jounraling card for cardmaking. They often take care of a lot of the work for you. In this case, the card was basically just the sentiment in the right hand corner, but I thought it was a perfect fit for the penguin.
I ended up using a second sentiment from Neat & Tangled's May Your Holidays Be set, and also used the mini background stamp with stars/snow to frame the top of the journaling card.
A simple red cardstock mat finished things off.
Which one do you like best?
The good news is I still have a few penguins that need to make their way onto cards!
