SSS Make Merry, Day 7

Hi all!  I have one last Make Magic card to share today.  This one features hexagons again, but today I'm using the Sexy Hexies background.

This is such an easy technique, but I love the results.

I started by stamping the background on some dark blue cardstock with dark blue ink.

Then I used a Copic marker, B39, to selectively color different sections of the hexagons.

If you don't have a dark enough color in the right shade, you can also try using a gray Copic.  I debated using this shade of blue cardstock as well as an even darker one. I had 'swatched' a couple of blues and grays on each of my cardstock possibilities to decide which combination to use.  If I had gone with the darker blue cardstock, the dark gray Copic would have been the best choice.

This is a really easy technique, the hardest part is coloring in the lines!

To finish off the background, I placed my panel back into the stamping platform, inked with Versamark and then embossed with WOW! Metallic Gold Rich embossing powder.

For the sentiment, I die cut the You're the Best shadow piece from the same blue as the background, and the 'You're' from gold mirror cardstock.  I also die cut 'the best' from the gold, and adhered those right on top of the dark blue letters.

Loving how striking the dark blues and gold are!

Hope you have a great Friday and weekend!

  1. This is really striking! Love that a dark paper was used so really, only about half needed to be colored.
