Happy Diecember! The new Simon Says Stamp release is now available in the store!
There are so many great new dies in the release, but clearly one of my favorites is this Vine Background.
I had so much fun creating these cards partly because I love the design, it's perfect for inlaid die cutting because the pieces are nice and big and easy to work with. I'm also loving this die because I was able to get so many cards done.
I started out by die cutting the background from four different shades of green cardstock.
Then I mixed and matched. I started with the die cut outline in one color, and inlaid the leaves using the the other three colors. For the negative pieces, I used white and a soft gray. Once I had one background assembled, it was so easy to put the rest together because I just had to follow the formula from my first card. If I used dark green for a certain set of leaves on the first card, then I would switch to a different shade of green for all those leaves on a subsequent card. By following the formula, I ensured that all the pieces would get used across the four cards, and I wouldn't end up with a mismatch when I got to the last card.
Here's a quick look at the finished cards.
For this set, I used the new Just Because die for the sentiment. It was popped up over the card, and it fits perfectly whether your card is vertically or horizontally aligned.
I also enjoyed mixing up the backgrounds between the soft gray and the white. The background really pops against the white, but I love how the sentiment stands out against the soft gray.
This next card features the new Missing You So Much die for the sentiment.
Again, the sentiment was popped up with foam tape.
I love how versatile the background is. Great for those just because/thinking of you types of cards, but it's also a great fit for holiday cards.
The sentiment for this card is from the new Holiday Greetings set, I LOVE this new set. It features the same font and style as the previously released All About You set which is one of my favorites.
After I was done with my four cards, I had all these white and soft gray pieces, and it seemed a shame for them to go to waste. So, I ran the die through my cutting machine one more time, this time using a very dark gray cardstock.
Into that dark gray negative cut, I inlaid the white outline as well as a set of white leaves. Then I adhered the outline in soft gray over top of the white outline. This gave it a bit of height and texture.
That's all for me today. Be sure to go and check out the new release at Simon Says Stamp, there are so many good things in it, and I'll have lots more to share in the coming days.
Wow!! Amazing cards!!! I'm putting this die in my wish list now!!!
