Happy Thursday and Happy Release Day! The new Let's Chill release from Simon Says Stamp is live in the store and it's full of summery goodness, including the Beachy Keen sentiment set I used for today's card.
This is a great sentiment set, and you'll definitely be seeing more of the sentiments from this set in the next couple of weeks.
For today's card, I wanted to create an inky summery panel using my Distress Inks.
I started by adding some blues to the top of the panel and yellows to the bottom with foam ink tools. Then I pressed those same colors onto my craft mat, misted the ink, and started to dab my panel into the puddles to create some texture. I continued to mist/blot/dry to build up the color and add texture. Along the way, I added in some darker colors focusing their use towards the edges of the panel.
This is such a fun process, very experimental. There were a couple times I felt like I might have to start again, but I just kept at it, and I'm so happy with how it turned out.
I didn't want to cover the panel because I like it so much, but I also needed a really bold sentiment that would create a great balance for the panel and this sentiment was perfect.
It was stamped with Versafine and then embossed with Ranger Frosted Crystal Antiquities embossing powder.
The entire panel was then popped up over my card base.
Make sure you head over to the Simon Says Stamp store to check out the whole release. I have lots, lots, more to share from this release in the next couple weeks!
