Simple Stenciled Birthday Cards

Hey folks!  I've got a couple super easy stenciled birthday cards to share today.

Stencils are a great way to create a quick background, and by adding some variability into your inking, you can create the effect of dimension.

For this first card, I used an older stencil and two shades of ink:  Lemonade and Cantaloupe.

I started by inking the entire stencil with Lemonade, heavier at the edges of my panel and more lightly in the center.  I then switched to Cantaloupe, this time really inking only around the edges, leaving the center uninked.

The two sentiments, from the Best Year Yet set were stamped with Versa Claire black ink in the center, and the completed panel was popped up over my card base with foam tape.

I also added a few raindrops embellishments.

I used the same technique for this next card except that this card used a set of stencils, Layered Confetti.

For this card, I used Taffy, Sweets, and Bubblegum from the Pink Blossoms mini ink set.  There are three confetti stencils with circles ranging from large to small.  I started with the stencil with the large circles, inking that with Bubblegum, more heavily around the edges and softly in the center.

Next, I moved to the medium confetti stencil and Sweets.  Finally, I finished up with the smallest confetti stencil and Taffy.  For this stencil, I really kept my inking all to the outsides.

I again used the Best Year Yet set for the sentiment.  This is a really great sentiment set to have on hand for birthday cards.

That's all for me today, thanks for visiting!

  1. I love the effect of the sentiments over the stencilled background
