Happy STAMPtember first!  I know you have all been looking forward to the STAMPtember release from Simon Says Stamp, and it's absolutely packed with fun goodness.

I have four new items in this release:

and the set I'm showcasing today, Drop the Mic.

I love bold, graphic cards that can be done in a hurry, and this set fits the bill.  There are two main pieces: a background, and a shadow.  You can then pair that with a solid or outline sentiment, or leave the main sentiment unstamped.  Then there are some secondary sentiments that are perfect for both the front or inside of the card.  AND, for the scrapbookers out there, the sentiment creates a 3x4 rectangle, so perfect for creating journaling cards.

I've got a bunch of cards today showing you how you can mix and match the pieces in this set.

For these first two cards, I used just the background piece and sentiment shadow.  The top cards used Cherry ink for the background and Versa Clair black ink for the shadow.

I also stamped one of the secondary sentiments in black and popped that up over my panel for the top card.

For the second card, I thought it would be fun to use some Tim Holtz Embossing glazes.  I chose Fossilized Amber and Broken China.

For these next two examples I'm showing off the two different options for the sentiment itself.

For the card on the left, I used Cadette for the background, Galaxy for the sentiment shadow, and then Sunbeam for the solid sentiment.  A yellow cardstock mat finished things off.

For the card on the right, I used Celery for the background, Amethyst for the sentiment shadow, and then Versa Clair black to add the outline sentiment.

To add a bit of interest to this card, I created a two tone mat mimicking the colors of my stamped piece.  For the lime green piece, I cut a rectangular piece of cardstock, lined it up with the corner of my purple cardstock, centered the stamped piece over top, and then used a pencil and ruler to extend the line of the sentiment shadow onto my lime cardstock.  I then trimmed the lime cardstock piece down along those lines, adhered it to my purple cardstock, and popped the stamped piece over top.

For this last card, I skipped the background, and used just the sentiment shadow, stamped in Surf, and solid sentiment, stamped with Versa Clair black.

I die cut a rounded rectangle from the center of a black panel to create a frame, and popped that up over my stamped sentiment.

A couple of the secondary sentiments stamped in black were also popped up to complete the card.

These were a lot of fun to create and really did not take much time at all.

Be sure to head over to the Simon store to check out the full release.  I'll be back tomorrow with some more STAMPtember fun!
