Hey everyone! It's been quiet here....between Carina having a particularly nasty case of pneumonia and Christmas, I just haven't had a ton of time for crafting. So it was nice to get back in the swing of things the other day when I created a couple cards featuring the new Destination China collection from Spellbinders.
My family is Chinese, so these new dies really speak to me. I've paired them with a really old stamp set from Close to My Heart that I picked up years ago. I use it every so often when my mom needs cards for relatives or asian friends.
This first card features the Chinese Coin Window dies. I started by cutting four layers of the detailed window die from cream cardstock. These were stacked/adhered together and then adhered to the red circle which was cut with the coordinating mat die. I stamped/embossed the sentiment, and then I filled the window openings with Nuvo Glitter drops in Midnight Sky. For some of the really little areas I used a needle to help spread the drops. This piece was then set aside to dry.
I chose a very subtle cream patterned paper and a gold mirror board mat to frame the die cut piece. To add a bit more interest, I used a straight edge to draw lines along the edges of the patterned paper with a Versamark pen, and then embossed in gold.
The gold mirror board was popped up over my card base as was the round die cut piece.
This next card features the Chinese Knot Frame dies.
I die cut the frame from a yellow 4" x 4" piece of cardstock and then from black cardstock. These pieces were adhered directly a 4 1/4" square card base, leaving the detailed areas within the border open, so you see the white card base below.
I then cut another frame from black and adhered that over top to add a bit dimension/finish.
The simple sentiment finishes things off. I really love the bold, bright graphic look of white black and yellow.
There are some other really wonderful dies in this new collection that you'll definitely want to check out. Thanks so much for visiting!
These are just amazing! Love the wonderful look you created. Happy New Year.
