Hi all! I'm back with some more cards featuring the Geometric Builder Hearts from Simon's new Make Magic release. I kind of went down a rabbit hole with this one heart die from the set, playing with the hearts to create some different designs.
I started by die cutting the heart four times from four shades of blue cardstock. To assemble all my hearts, I used a heart punch to create 'bases' for me to layer my heart pieces over. There is actually a solid heart in the set, but it's wired in with some smaller hearts, and I'm thinking that I'll want to use those wired together before I snip them apart, so left them intact for now.
For this first card, I assembled the pieces dark to light from left to right. Playing off the diagonal line of the first segment, I cut a piece of warm gray cardstock, popping it up over a white panel.
The hearts were then arranged on that diagonal line so that the lighter portions hang over the white panel and are adhered with foam tape.
The sentiment is from the All About You set.
Next up, I created a set of four hearts where the colors go from light to dark from left to right.
This time, I arranged the hearts to form a flower/rosette, by overlapping the hearts just a bit. I love that you almost lose the idea of hearts when you look at it, and it looks more like lighter and darker petals.
I again paired this with a sentiment from All About You.
Finally, a more whimsical card.
When I was playing with the finished shapes on the prior cards, I thought that the hearts looked a lot like butterflies, so this time I created two sets of butterfly wings, one with the darker colors at the top of the wing and the lighter colors at the bottom and one with those colors swapped.
For the body of the butterfly, I just free hand cut a piece of black cardstock to resemble a body, and the antenna were just doodled onto my panel with a journaling pen.
The sentiment is from the Silhouette Sentiments stamp set.
It's always so fun to me to play with these Geometric Builder sets from Simon, and these hearts are a fantastic addition to the collection!
