SSS Make Magic Release, Day 4

For today's post I'm showcasing a couple cards featuring the Throwing Shapes background from the Make Magic release.  I love how versatile this background is, and played that up a bit creating both a very bold, and a very soft and pretty card.

First the bold,

I started by stamping the background with Gina K Black Amalgam ink.  I wasn't trying to get a super solid impression, I just knew that I was going to color this with Copics, so I needed a Copic friendly ink.

Then I proceeded to randomly color in the different sections of the background with my Copics.  I used R24, YR04, Y04, G06, B26, FV2.

Once complete, I placed my panel back into my stamping platform (I had left the stamp in place there), and then stamped again using Versafine to get those really dark crisp shapes.

The panel was then trimmed down to fit on my card base, and I finished things off with one of the sentiments from the Sunshine and Rainbows sentiment strip set, popping it up with foam tape.

For the soft and pretty card, I started by inking a panel of white cardstock with three shades of Distress Ink:  Worn Lipstick, Tumbled Glass, and Twisted Citron.  Then I placed that panel into my stamping platform.  I started by applying some Worn Lipstick to the top of my background using my foam blender and making sure I had a 'soft' edge at the end of the ink.

I cleaned the background off, then did the same with each of the remaining inks.  If the coverage wasn't as strong as I wanted, I would add a bit more ink and stamp again.

I love the soft and subtle effect you get from this.

After trimming down my panel to fit the card base, I had a bit of the background left over, and used that to die cut the Magical sentiment.  It was mounted on the shadow die cut in white and popped up over the background with foam tape.

The 'You Are' is from the Make Magic sentiment strips, and I added a few clear sequins to finish things off.

Don't you love how different these cards are?  I'll be back tomorrow with more Make Magic!
