STAMPtember Hexagon Background

Happy Monday!  I'm continuing to share my STAMPtember creations this week, and today I've got a couple cards featuring my new Hexagon Background.

I thought it would be fun to do some basic coloring, so for this first card I stamped the background with Gina K Black Amalgam ink, and then colored it with Copics.  Unfortunately, I misplaced the little scrap of paper where I wrote down the colors I used, but I will say that I tried to use my lighter shades, so mostly 00/01s. Each whole hexagon was colored with a particular shade, so darker colors/blends were created where the hexagons overlapped.

For the sentiment, I die cut the 'you' using Pinkfresh Studio's Lea's Ornate Lowercase die set.  The secondary sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp's All About You set.  The entire sentiment also says 'you make me smile,' but I fussy cut the 'you' out.

I added a few star embellishments to finish things off.

For this second card, I created a more subtle background, embossing it with clear embossing powder on some watercolor paper.

Then I added several shades of green, and yellow watercolor in a very loose fashion and left the panel to dry.

Next, I die cut the Etched Layered Daisy Stem die from watercolor paper, painting each of the pieces and then adhering them to my panel.

The sentiment is from the Hibiscus Blooms set and die cut with the coordinating dies.

This is a really fun background and I love that it can be very bold and geometric, but also soft and subtle.

See you back here tomorrow!

  3. Such a cool background stamp! I love that on the Copic one, you just let the colours overlap and blend that way.
