Hey everyone! I've got a card today featuring a couple of the dies from the And Back Again release.
It's been a little harder to find crafty time of late, but I knew I wanted to use these two dies--Etched Butterfly, and Outline Love--when I saw them, so I set aside some time this week to make it happen.
I die cut the butterfly from a scrap of white cardstock, believe it was CTMH White Daisy, then colored it with Copics to kind of resemble a Monarch. I used N7, N9, and 100 for the gray/black portions, and Y38, YR04, YR07, and YR09 for the orange parts. The body of the butterfly was colored with just 100.
Using my oranges and yellow, I added color to another scrap of cardstock, centered the love sentiment over it, and die cut. I also die cut a piece of slightly heavier white cardstock. I wanted a heavier cardstock because I knew I was going to inlay the colored pieces and just wanted something that would provide a bit more sturdiness. The shadow sentiment die was cut from black cardstock.
I adhered the white outline to the shadow piece and then inlaid all the colored pieces.
For the frame, I used some very old dies from MFT which cut inside/outside frames. I used the two largest to create my frame and popped it up with foam tape.
The finished die cut pieces were then popped up as well.
The bottom half of the butterfly was adhered first. I used one layer of foam adhesive towards the center of the butterfly, and two layers at the edges of the wings. For the top half, I used one layer at the center and three layers at the edges. I think this adds some great dimension.
The sentiment was popped up with a single layer of foam tape, and then I used a couple dots of liquid adhesive to apply the butterfly body.
Loving how striking these dies are!
