SSS DieCember, Faux Pressed Tin using Gilded Ornamental Embossing Folder

Hi folks!  I've got a super easy card to share today using the new Gilded Ornamental embossing folder from the Simon Says Stamp DieCember release.

It's no secret that I'm a HUGE fan of Simon's Matte Gold cardstock, but Simon also has Matte Silver which is just as fantastic.

I wanted to try and achieve the look of pressed tin for this card.  I started by embosssing a panel of Matte Silver cardstock.

To add some contrast, I swiped my black Stazon inkpad over the embossed panel. I used Stazon because it doesn't smear on the specialty cardstock.

I wanted to add a bit of inking to the edges, so I used a round Tim Holtz blender with an old sponge, because I didn't know how Stazon would work in terms of blending.  Not surprizingly, Stazon isn't great in terms of blending, so I had to work at it a bit, but I did get some of that color around the edges, and added a bit in the center of the medallion also.  It was good that I used an old sponge becuase it basically destroyed it.  Not sure if it's because I was using Stazon, or because it was old, or both, but in any case, I got the effect I wanted.

Then, I simply adhered my panel to a black card base, and added a sentiment from the Reverse Magical Wishes sentiment strips, popping it up with foam tape.

Super simple, but I love the result!
