Happy Friday! Today I'm participating in Day 1 of a two day blog hop celebrating the new Out of This World release.
All good hops have prizes and Simon is giving away a $25 credit to the store to one commenter at each stop along the way, so be sure to leave a comment to be entered to win.
Today I'm featuring my new Rotating Quadrants background.
For this first set of cards I used the newest set of Pawsitively Saturated Ink Cubes.
I masked each quadrant off with Post-It tape, inked, stamped with one color, masked the next quadrant, inked and stamped with the next color, etc.
For the first card I used the Celery, Limelicious, and Pearfection inks. I then pulled out a journaling pen and doodled around each of the quadrants twice.
The sentiment is from the Yay You set It was stamped and die cut and then popped up with foam tape. I added a secondary sentiment from the Reverse Yay sentiment strips.
The second card uses the Sprout, Fairway, and Field cubes. I used the same technique, but this time I shifted my 'quadrant' over by a half, so the composite shape I was inking up was more of a football shape vs. a square. I again used the journaling pen to emphasize the shapes, and this time finished it off with a sentiment from the Big and Bold set.
One of the things I love about geometric designs is that you can see so many things and patterns in them. At one point when I was looking at the background I saw peppermints. This made me think Christmas, so for this next card I simply inked up the background with Cherry ink, trimmed it down, and added a Christmas sentiment with the Joyful die.
The sentiment was die cut from Matte Gold cardstock and adhered to a white shadow piece. The entire sentiment was then popped up with foam tape, and for some extra festive fun I added a smattering of clear sequins.
Finally, a fun, messy, inky card.
For this card I inked up the background with several Distress Inks: Faded Jeans, Dusty Concord, and Chipped Sapphire. My background was in my stamp platform, so I inked up different areas with the different colors, stamped, added another color in another area of the stamp, stamped, etc. The colors were stamped and blending together until I was happy with the result.
I then removed my paper and added a bit of texture by spritzing it with water. I should have used my heat gun to dry the water immediately to get a crisper look to the splatters because I was using regular cardstock vs watercolor paper, but live and learn.
After the panel was dry, I added some gold splatter using Hero Arts Gold Glimmer Metallic Ink.
I chose the Hi There die for the sentiment, cutting the sentiment itself from Matte Gold, and the shadow from a piece of cardstock that I had inked up with those same Distress colors. The finished piece was popped up with foam tape, and I finished the card off with some gold sequins.
That's all I have for you today, but the hop is definitely not over. I have the list below for your viewing pleasure:
