Happy Friday! It's release day at Simon Says Stamp. The new Smitten release has lots of spring and valentine themed products including this Lady's Mantle die.
For today's card, I started by inking a panel of Neenah Solar White cardstock with Fairway and Pine inks to create an ombre effect.
I then die cut three of the Lady's Mantle dies from Matte Gold cardstock. These were adhered to my panel with liquid adhesive.
To make sure that everything was strongly adhered to the panel, I placed a piece of printer paper over top and ran it through my die cutting machine. This had a bit of an unintended effect. The Matte cardstock is really pretty and lovely, but a bit 'softer' than traditional cardstock, so it flattened out a bit, but this was a happy occurrence. It really gives the dies more of a foiled or gilded look.
The sentiment is from the Hibiscus Blooms set, and before embossing, I used my heat tool to make sure that that corner of the card was nice and dry so it would emboss cleanly.
I finished things off with a Matte Gold mat.
To give you an idea the difference in look between the die before and after it got pressed to create the gilded look.
I really like both looks, and love that I've found a new way to stretch my supplies to get different effects.
Be sure to head over to Simon to check out the full Smitten release and have a great weekend!
