Simon Says Stamp Fun & Festive Release

Hi all!  I'm popping in to share a card I created using one of the new dies from Simon Says Stamps' latest release - Fun & Festive.

My card features the new You're So Kind die.  It's a great die in it's own right as a sentiment, but I thought I would flip things around a bit and use it to create a background.

The die was cut seven times from white cardstock, and I adhered it to a panel of white cardstock to get a textured tone on tone look.  This piece was then adhered to a black mat.

For the actual sentiment, I used Cathy Zielske's Great Things stamps and dies for Simon.  I kept everything black and white for a really clean, modern, graphic look.

There's all sorts of good things in the new release.  As the name suggests, the majority of the release has a holiday focus, but this is one of those dies that you can use all year round and is easy on the wallet too!

Altenew / Alexandra Renke Mash-up

I've been dying to use some of my newest purchases and combined several them on today's card.

I started by cutting Altenew's Doodled Dots Cover Die from  light gray cardstock.  I wanted a tone on tone look, so I also cut a card base from the same gray cardstock.  To add a little bit of interest, I added a panel of vellum between the base and the cover die.

That gorgeous floral die cut was cut from cream cardstock and lightly adhered to the card.  I added a strip of stitching for some extra texture and to create a subtle defining line for the sentiment.

Altenew's Simply Hello die was then cut from Limeade Ice cardstock three times and adhered together.  I then placed it on the card weaving the floral piece between the ls for some extra interest and dimension.

Finally, for another bit of texture, I randomly added some small cream sequins in a few of the dots.

This was such a fun card to create, I really love the mix of textures and elements.

Congratulations Poppy Flowers - Alexandra Renke

Alexaandra Renke is a company that's been on my radar for a while now, but it's a German company and they've had very limited distribution in the US.  That's why I was so excited to see them showing at Creativation in January, AND that Ellen Hutson decided to start carrying them.

I've been waiting patiently for them to show up at Ellen, and as soon as they did, I placed an order.  I had limited funds, so I opted for this Poppy Flowers set since you get several dies in the set, so a little more bang for your buck.

When I first picked them up, I planned to make a lovely, light, delicate card, but when I pulled them out to play we veered into the bold and graphic.  You'll definitely see the other card another time, but for today, this is what you get.

For this card, I die cut two of the flowers from white cardstock.  I also die cut just the petal portion of the flowers from some mixed media paper that I had painted with Dylusion Ink Sprays in order to get the pieces to inlay.

Finally, the flowers were die cut from a piece of black cardstock which was then adhered to the some black and white striped patterned paper.  Finally, I inlaid the white outline and red petal pieces.

I went with a very simple sentiment from Altenew's Magnolias for Her stamp set.
