Winnie & Walter 4th Birthday Bash Blog Hop

Happy Friday!  I'm excited to be helping Winnie & Walter celebrate their fourth birthday today.  You should be arriving from Taheerah Atchia's blog.

I was lucky enough to be able to meet and hang out a bit with Shay last month at Creativation.  She's the real deal, down to earth, fun, and supportive.  I was also able to meet Evelin T - who designed the stamp set I'm featuring today.  So sweet and kind.  I could hang out with those girls all day!

Anyway, I thought it would be fitting to create a birthday card for this hop, and this little puffin from the Winter Wishes set looks to me like he is just partying and having a great time, so I thought I would make him the focus of the card.

I started by stamping him on my panel and coloring him with Copics.  Then I created a mask for him and also masked off the bottom of the card to create a ground line.

There are four blobby dot stamps in this set which I used to create the background, I wanted almost a lava lamp effect.  I used the Sea Shore ink collection from Altenew and did both first and second generation stamping of the inks as well as varying the shades.

The sentiment is from the Happy Birthday to You set from Winnie & Walter.

Winnie & Walter World Cardmaking Day Blog Hop

Hi everyone!  I'm so excited to be participating in Winnie & Walter's World Cardmaking Day Blog Hop again this year.  You should be arriving from Heather Hoffman's blog.

I created two cards to share today.  This first one features the Mini Scenery: Marbelize stamp.  I have been eyeing this one for a while.  To create that background, I stamped the image using my MISTI and four shades of blue ink.  Each time I stamped, I slid the paper up slightly.  This gives it more of a real marbles look where there are different colors or shades of color.  I also think in the blue this looks a lot like water.

I repeated this twice to get the two halves.  The center point of the marble image is not quite the center of the stamp, so I trimmed the pieces down slightly so that they would meet in the middle, but adhered them to my colored panel at the ends so there is a space in the middle.

Then I die cut the Peace sentiment from silver foil cardstock and popped it up over the center.

The secondary sentiment is from In Bloom: Frenchy's Festive Florals and was embossed in white and popped up as well.

My second card features the Happy Owlidays set which is just so so cute!  I kept this one pretty simple.  The owls were stamped in Versafine and then watercolored with Kuretake Gansai watercolors.

They looked a little lonely there, so I gave them a little pine bower using the pine sprig from the Winter Wonderland set.  I first stamped them using my watercolors.  Just brushing them onto the stamp.  The resulting image is pretty organic and not precise, giving more of a hint of the needles.  After those were dry, I went back in with regular ink and stamped again to get some more of the detail in there.  I stamped using a couple of shades of green to get some extra depth too.

Winnie & Walter Worldcardmaking Day Blog Hop

Hey everyone!  I hope you are enjoying World Cardmaking Day!  I'm back with another great blog hop featuring Winnie & Walter!

I was really excited to be asked to participate in the hop and have used the occasion to exponentially increase my very small stack of Christmas cards (people, Christmas is less than 90 days away!!!).

My goal with these cards was to stay pretty simple.  Each of these could be relatively easily mass produced, and while I've added some dimension with foam tape, you could keep these nice and flat as well.

So, without further ado, here we go:



So easy.  The Into the Woods mini scenery background paired with a Hero Arts ombre inkpad steals the show here, there really isn't much more you need to do.  I used the Peace cutaway which was cut from some solid light gray patterned paper (yes, I know that is a bit of a contradiction) as well as some dark gray cardstock.  They were adhered together and then popped up over the background.



Then I added a bit of twine for a pop of red, and ahdered the entire panel to the card base with foam adhesive.

Next some stencil fun.



I used the Triangled Creative Screenings to created the patterned paper.  I used Evergreen Bough and Festive Berries Distress ink, first sponging the Evergreen Bough on and then turning the stencil 180 degrees and adding Festive Berries.  Note, I did wipe the stencil off before starting the second color so I didn't get any residual color from the first inking.  Also note, I could have lined these up so that the colors didn't touch, but I like the bit of dark you get on the edge where the colors overlap for this application.



The stag and the sentiment are from the Winter Wonderland stamp set.  I stamped the sentiment on some gold mirrorboard cardstock with Versafine and then set it with some clear embossing powder.  A few sequins finished this one off.

Finally, the reason I picked that Winter Wonderland stamp set, the gorgeous tree ring stamp.  I just love that image, there are so many possibilities, but again, I was trying to keep things simple here.



I stamped and embosssed the tree ring in Liquid Platinum on vellum and fussy cut it.  I also stamped and fussy cut the evergreen sprig image.

I'm using the Peace cutaway again, this time in silver mirror board.



Then it was just a matter of placing the pieces on the mat.  I used some of that red and white twine again for that zing of color.  I also added a vellum mat to soften the transition between the patterned paper and card base.

Oh so happy that it's Friday!

Today's card is for Winnie & Walter's birthday gradient challenge.

Normally I would probably go the distress ink route, but then I saw this sheet of patterned paper and, my lazy self figured why not let the paper do my work for me?

I kept things very simple on this one.  The cute cat is from an SC set.  I stamped him on my cardstock, then cut away the top using a combination of my paper cutter, detail scissors and a craft knife.  The cat was colored with Copics, I added the sentiment and done!
