Cocoa Daisy Crop Layouts

I love it when Cocoa Daisy hosts crops.  They have great challenges and it's a good way to work on my backlog.  Unfortunately, this past weekend/week have been pretty busy with all sorts of personal and work things, all good, but that means I didn't get as much done as I had hoped.

Still, I was able to finish two layouts for the crop.  Sorry about the photos, the big shots look a little fuzzy, which is annoying the heck out of me....

First, a Project Life inspired layout that also drew on vintage farm signs for inspiration.  I immediately thought of some of my old October Afternoon papers (Farm Girl and Sasparilla), and this is what I cam up with:

It's a vintage photo of my sisters and I by our swing set in one of the homes we lived in growing up.  There was a farmer who lived behind us.  He must have had a farm somewhere else, or was retired and just cultivated the large plot for fun, but it was really only about 3/4 of an acre.  He grew corn among other things, and in the summer, we could walk over and buy fresh corn.  So yummy!

This second layout was for a cornucopia challenge.  You had to use at least three photos, three patterned papers, three different embellishments, include journaling, and some trim.  That's a lot to pack into one layout, but I love how this turned out.  I cheated a little on the patterned papers as I did a bunch of fussy cutting on one to get all those flowers.

So glad I got this one done though, this was from this last February, and I LOVE these photos.  I love how happy and really glowing Ellie is in them.  They had a great time, and stayed for the WHOLE dance which is saying something since Andrew hates to dance, and it was a couple hours after Ellie's normal bedtime, but what a special night for them.

I'm pretty pleased that all the papers for these layouts came from my 'old' pile, and many of the embellishments too.  It's nice to be using that stuff!  I'm going to flake out on the supply list today (it's been a long week and I have to get ready for movie night), but if you have a specific question, please ask!

3 Peas in a Pod - Cocoa Daisy August Sketch and Elle's Studio Use Your Stash

I'm trying to do better about keeping up with my scrapbooking....I have piles and piles of photos to scrap....so I'm trying to complete at least one layout a week.  This week I decided to play along with Cocoa Daisy's August Sketch challenge, by happy coincidence Elle's Studio is sponsoring a Use Your Stash challenge this week and their papers and tags were perfect for this layout.

These photos are from a couple years ago when we were visiting Andrew's parents.  It's kind of crazy that Carina is now almost as big as Ellie was at the time.

Anyway, I was able to incorporate all sorts of fun goodies.  Elle's Studio papers and tags, BossyJoscie flair, SC veneers, Pretty Little Studio tag, Sketchbook Thickers, lots of things I have been hoarding.  (I'm also going through a craft area move/overhaul and have realized I have a ton of stuff and should stop saving things for 'the perfect time'.)

This one came together quickly and easily and has assuaged my scrapbooking guilt for the week.

Ellie & Ella

I've been wanting to scrap this photo for a long time, and finally got around to it this week. 

Ella is Ellie's bestie from preschool.  The girls are always so excited to see one another, and I know Ellie misses Ella.  Ellie's class is doing a Post Office unit at school right now, and Ellie came home with some 'mail' that we need to send Ella yesterday.



For this layout I did a little digging through my supplies to come up with just the right mix of products/embellishments.  The squares are patterns from CTMH's new Chantilly collection, my favorite from the new idea book.  I stitched just inside each one to give it a quilted look.  I also stitched around the vellum mat, and to attach the brad which is from the AC Chap collection.



I added some doilies from Curtsey Boutique and my other current crush, enamel dots which are holding up a bit of vellum banner from Crate's Acorn Avenue collection.  The Friends decorative brad is from the Chantilly workshop on the go, and I used one of the periods from the thickers used for the title as a bookend for the decorative brad.



I'm going to link this up to the current Studio Calico challenge (create a project with a quilted look) and Cocoa daisy challenge (use 5 or more different patterns).

Little Miss Nosey

I'm playing along with the Cocoa Daisy Fall Crop today.  This is for the 'Bright Lights' challenge.  Kim taught us how to make these brayered starbursts.  I think it's such a cool technique and I definitely plan on doing some more experimentation with it. 

I used four colors for my starbursts:  Honey, Goldrush, Autumn Terracotta, and Cranberry.

The starbursts are such bold elements, that it was really just picking out a few coordinating papers and some embellishments, but the page really didn't need much work.



These photos I've been meaning to scrapbook for a while, they're from last November when my sister took Carina and Geronimo for a walk.  Carina had been doing a lot of pointing to the different parts of her face and saying their names, and when she went for her nose, she managed to stuff her finger in, and then she didn't want to take it out.



Anyway, I am off to bed...gotta take advantage of that extra hour!

Carina's Fall Festival/Petting Zoo layout

After all that focus on cards and Gallery Idol last week, I have really been in the mood to scrapbook. I'm continuing to meander my way through the events of last year.

I'm using a lot of product from Cocoa Daisy's January kit, Tea and Cupcakes, for this layout. One of the papers, Basic Grey's Home Sweet Home, features these beautiful flowers. I used a strip of it on the right page, but ended up cutting out a bunch of the flowers to use as embellishments. This is time consuming, but I love the way it looks.



The title was made using Taylored Expressions new Tall and Skinny Alpha dies. I love the font and I used some Little Yellow Bicycle Hello Spring Jewel Stickers as the dots for the 'i's. The letters as well as the cut flowers were all run through my Xyron 5" Creative Station - makes adhering them SO much easier.



I used some of the embellishments that came in the kit, American Crafts yellow ric rac ribbon and tag, adding some Lemondrop Twinery twine to the tag.





When I got to the journaling, it looked a little too blocky/solid, so I used the Purple Cows summer punch and a corner rounder to soften the block and added some Colonial White cardstock underneath.

And, since I always have more photos than I can get on the page, I used a 4x6 flip flap to add two extras.



This layout just makes me smile. Hope you like it. Sorry that the photos aren't the best. I still struggle to take photos of the double pagers....I think I need (want) a wide angle lens.....
