Adoring You Stamp of Approval Instagram Hop


Today I'm participating in an Instagram hop showcasing the Adoring You Stamp of Approval box.  If you're on the waitlist, you can order these products now (9 AM), if not, the box will be available for general ordering at 6 PM.

There are two $25 store credits up for grabs in the hop - you have to comment over on Instagram (@mprantner) to be in the draw, but I thought I would share the card as well as the details on how to create it here.

I started by clear embossing the Love Note Background on a piece of Hawaiian Shores cardstock (PTI).  I then inked the entire pice with Juniper Mist ink and set it aside.

The wreath images are from the Sweet Home Wreath stamp set.  The twig image and the first layer of the wreath were stamped with Green Tea ink and the second layer with Eucalyptus.  I added some berries using Juniper Mist ink, and a bit of texture using a Versamark pen and Verdigris Antiquities Embossing Powder from Ranger.


To finish the card off, I die cut a circle in my background panel and stamped the sentiment, from the Sweet Home Wreath set in Juniper Mist on the card base.

The background piece was then adhered in place, and the wreath was popped up around the opening.

This wreath might be my favorite image from this entire box.

Adoring You Stamp of Approval Blog Hop


Hi everyone!  I'm really excited to be helping showcase the latest Stamp of Approval box, Adoring You, from Catherine Pooler Designs today.  You should be arriving from Lea Lawson's blog.  The Stamp of Approval box is a hand-picked collection of exclusive stamping supplies delivered right to your door. Released quarterly, these supplies (greater than $100 value) are designed to go perfectly together. 

This really is a packed box! It includes five stamp sets, one of which is a red rubber background and another of which is a 6x8 set, and one cover plate sized die.  

For my cards today, I set out to create a couple cards that use the products in unexpected ways.


This first card features the large sentiment from the Happy Together stamp set.  It was stamped in the center of my panel in Peppermint Scrub ink.  Using a MISTI, I actually double stamped it to get a darker look.

I thought that the branch from the Happy Together set could also double as a vine, so I stamped it repeatedly around the the sentiment in Green Tea and Eucalyptus ink.  I then went back and using the leaf image from the Sweet Home Wreath stamp set added leaves to the ends of some of those vines.  I also added some hearts to the ends of some of the vines using the small heart stamp from the Happy Together set in Peppermint Scrub.


I also used a few Prismacolor penciils to add a bit of shading to the stamped images to give them a bit more depth/shading.

My second card focuses on the Adore die.  As mentioned previously, this is a cover plate sized die that evokes a paneled door with a fan light.  For this card, I cut the die five times: twice from black cardstock, and once each from three shades of green.  


I trimmed the outline/webbing of the black die cut pieces down to just the fan light portion.  Using a piece of black cardstock as a base, I adhered the outline and then inlaid the green pieces with the lightest green in the center progressing to the darkest on the outside.  These were then adhered to a square card base.

The sentiment is from the Congratulations Sentiments set.


I couldn't resist making a third card because the stamp set that initially caught my eye when I opened the box was The Key stamp set and I really wanted to ink it up, so I whipped up a really quick and simple card using the set.


The set has a variety of keys and lock images.  I random stamped the different lock images with Versamark on some dark blue cardstock, and then clear embossed.

One of the keys was stamped with Versamark on the same colored cardstock, embossed in gold and fussy cut.


The sentiment, also from The Key set was stamped with Juniper Mist ink on white cardstock. and popped up over the background and a strip of gold mirrorboard cardstock.  The key was then popped up slightly over the sentiment strip.

Hello World Blog Hop



Hey everyone! Happy World Cardmaking Day! I'm happy to be participating in a very special blog hop today. You should have arrived here from Laurel Beard's blog.

This is a special "Giving Back" blog hop hosted by Catherine Pooler. She's produced a special stamp set, designed by Chaitali Narla, to raise money for a very special cause.

Many of you know Jennifer (Jingle) Ingle. Her husband Sean is a teacher in a school where most kids are on a free and reduced lunch program, they don’t have computers at home or at school and the school doesn’t have the funds for a curriculum. In the spirit of giving his students the best education he can provide, Sean is working to raise funds to purchase computers for his classroom. Starting with some patterned paper from the 6x6 Bloom paper pad by Crate. I used one of the border stamps from the Yay Stripes stamp set on the top and bottom border of the panel. Then I embossed the wreath from The Wonderful Wreath stamp set in gold. I added a bit of inking around the wreath to add some emphasis to the image as well as some splatter to the entire panel.

The sentiment from the Hello World stamp set was then added in Versafine. Finally, I added some copper and clear sequins around the wreath for some extra sparkle and texture.



Instead of simply adhering the panel to the card base, I stitched it on with some gold thread.

Stamp of Approval Lovely Notes Blog Hop


Hey everyone!  Today I'm participating in the Stamp of Approval Lovely Notes Blog Hop today.  I'm extra excited about this because I designed one of the products in the box, the Concentric Circle Die.

For my first two cards I'm featuring the Concentric Circle Die.

I started by cutting the die once from regular white cardstock and once from Smooth White cardstock.  Then I used Copics to color the pieces, varying the intensity of the shades in the concentric circles and added just a small bit of shading.

Those colored pieces were then inlaid into the regular white cardstock piece which was adhered to a black mat cut using the frame for the Concentric Circle Die.  The sentiment is from the Handpainted Thanks set.



I created my own polka dot paper for the mat using one of the stamps from the Lovely Flowers stamp set.

For the next card, I wanted to show that you can use the die vertically as well, and I went very modern and graphic with the design.



The die was cut from both black and white cardstock, and I cut the coordinating mat in white.  I adhered the black die to the white mat, and then added some inlaid pieces to create an alternating look to the circles.  I continued the design into the center of the die, using some of the negative cuts.  A couple of the white pieces were trimmed down a bit, and the circles on the inside are not perfect, but I think that actually adds to the graphic look of the card.



I combined two sentiments from Butterfly Notes set, embossing them in white towards the bottom of the card.  The entire panel was then popped up over some colored cardstock.

Finally, I really wanted to use the wreath from Wonderful Wreath.  The technique I used yielded two cards from one inking, and is a great way to mass produce cards.



To create the look, I colored over the wreath with a Distress Marker, spritzed the wreath with water, and then stamped it on some watercolor paper.  Without reinking or remisting, I stamped it again on a second piece of watercolor paper.  This was repeated with several shades of Distress Ink.



Then I went in with a waterbrush to soften and blend a little.  This step is totally optional.  You might like a more delicate crisp look in which case, just skip the waterbrush.  The cards are very similar, but one is clearly lighter and more delicate than the other.



I finished both cards with that Handpainted Thanks sentiment again, embossed in copper on the darker card and gold on the lighter, and then stitched the watercolor panels to the card base.  Very simple, but that wreath really does stand on its own.
